Molly Smith, twenty, at a very young age, was urgently taken to the hospital with a rare pathology of the small intestine. He seemed to be "telescoped", entered into himself, because of which the child had to completely remove him
For the next 15 years, Molly had to eat directly through an IV. She recently underwent an innovative triple transplant operation. The girl was immediately transplanted with a small intestine, liver and pancreas and now she will have to learn to eat in the usual way.
However, after 15 years of tube feeding, Molly completely lost her hunger or thirst. She does not get any pleasure from eating or drinking and, in order not to forget about meals, constantly reminds herself to do this.
“At school they didn't always understand what kind of illness I had, but I had to stay awake at night because I had a meal at night. While feeding through the tube, I did not feel any desire to eat, if my parents were having lunch at that time, I would sit quietly and read a book. Now I also have no cravings for food, hunger or thirst, but I try not to skip meals so as not to lose weight."

“Food is something completely new and different for me. So many different tastes and types, it is impossible to put into words. I am learning to define what I like and what I don’t. For example, I don’t like chocolate, but I like chips … I don’t think that my lack of hunger and thirst is something physiological, rather it’s psychological, because doctors cannot explain this phenomenon.
Molly lives with her parents, her mother, Ann, is a librarian, and her father, Chris, is a former social worker. After having her small intestine removed at the age of 6 months, she was connected to a tube through which food was supplied for 12 hours a day.

Due to the high concentration of nutrients in the pipe meal, the girl suffered liver damage and subsequently required an urgent transplant. The day before coming of age, Molly had a triple transplant involving her liver, small intestine, and pancreas.
“Doctors still don't understand. what caused telescoping of my intestines, Molly continues, is considered a rare pathology. When I went to school I was there like a normal child, but at night I had tube feeding. From the age of seven, I myself began to drive this car. I could never afford to go hiking with the guys or go to camp and it was so amazing when I recently managed to go to Japan for the first time. The first time I was away from home."

Earlier this year, Molly was able to meet with the family of a girl who died from a hemorrhage, whose organs were transplanted to her. According to Moli, it was a very emotional experience for her.
