It is unlikely that there is at least one death certificate in the world, where the cause is “the effect of the curse”. But sometimes it would be pure truth.

This strange story began in 1938, in a small house in Pulaski County, Kentucky.

A man named Karl Pruitt returned home and found his wife in the arms of his lover. The lover managed to escape through the window, but the unfaithful wife was less fortunate. Blinded by rage, Karl wrapped a rusty chain around her neck and strangled her mercilessly. After that, he drew his pistol and fired a bullet in his forehead.

The relatives of Pruitt's wife demanded that the killer be buried in another city and, in the end, they achieved what they wanted. Karl's body was taken to a cemetery several miles from his hometown. But his spirit did not seem to find peace.

Strange things

Soon, visitors to the cemetery began to notice the amazing feature of Pruitt's grave. The grass in this place seemed discolored, but in the middle of it unknown bright plants grew in circles. After some time, the rings united and the drawing began to resemble … a chain! People from all over the area flocked to this cemetery to see the pattern on the grave of the “chain strangler,” as local residents dubbed Karl. For the time being, everything was calm, until one day a local teenager decided to disturb Karl's last resting place. This has become a very bad idea.

A series of terrible deaths

Wanting to impress his friends, the boy threw a stone at Pruitt's tombstone, splintering a piece from it. And the reckoning was not long in coming - on the way back the boy died, strangled by his own bicycle chain as a result of an accident.

The local community immediately decided that this death was the work of the ghost of Pruitt.

The teen's distraught mother took the ax and went to Karl's grave to destroy his gravestone. She was found dead the next day. In some strange way, the woman was able to strangle herself by entangling herself in her own clothesline.

The next victim of the cursed grave was a local farmer. As he drove through the cemetery in his wagon, he took out a pistol and fired at Pruitt's headstone. The horse, frightened by the shot, rushed quickly and the man fell out of the cart. One reins wrapped around the farmer's neck and strangled him.

Despite all the warnings, there were always fools who decided to test the power of the curse on their own skin.

So it happened with two police officers, who were photographed against the background of the grave, and then left, laughing at the silly superstitions. As soon as they got into the car and started off, they saw that a strange beam of light was following them. In an attempt to break away from him, the driver increased his speed and the car crashed into the fence. One of them managed to survive, and the second was nearly decapitated by a chain hanging between the boards of this fence.

By the end of the 1940s, people were seriously afraid to go to the cemetery, fearing to incur a terrible death. But one man still went to Pruitt's grave with an ax. I think you have already guessed what happened next. Yes, his body, hanging on a chain, was found at the cemetery gate.

The cemetery was closed shortly after this incident. The land was then bought out by a local mining company, who exhumed the bodies and transferred them to various cemeteries in the country. Karl Pruitt's eerie headstone has been removed and moved to an unknown location. Apparently, the curse of the “chain strangler” was ended.
