Mysterious fast radio pulses from space, with which scientists seem to have figured out, have become even more mysterious. Recently, another such outbreak was recorded, and at that point in space where it was already noted 4 years ago. This fact casts doubt on the theory explaining powerful radio bursts by the merging of neutron stars or the formation of black holes.
FRB 121102 (Fast Radio Burst - fast radio burst), which was recorded back in 2012, suddenly repeated, forcing authoritative scientists to speak again about the intelligent activity of alien life forms as an explanation of the phenomenon. The burst originated in the same part of the Universe where it was recorded by the Parks telescope for the first time - in the constellation Auriga.
The FRB repeat was discovered by a research team led by Paul Scholz of McGill University in Canada. Scientists have made a startling discovery when analyzing data collected by the 300-meter Arecibo telescope located in Puerto Rico. At the same time, repetitions of a radio pulse from a certain point in the constellation Auriga were recorded by Arecibo not once or twice - we are talking about more than ten FRBs.
Now scientists are faced with a dilemma - which of the two main theories to explain radio pulses to choose. Extraterrestrial activity or some periodic space phenomena, for example, magnetars - young neutron stars that generate radio emission. At the same time, of course, it is not ruled out that none of the theories is true.
