Director Guillermo del Toro, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, admitted that he saw an unidentified flying object (UFO) in his youth.
“It sounds like crazy, but I've seen a UFO. And it was terribly designed, - said the director. - It was a flying saucer with flashing lights - such a cliché. I would like to say that they [UFOs] are not what you imagine them to be. But, alas, they are just like that."
According to del Toro, it happened on a highway near the city of Guadalajara, where the director and his friend were going to drink beer. An unidentified luminous object moved across the sky very quickly, said del Toro.
At the same time, he claims that he and his friend did not have time to drink the beer they brought with them. As del Toro said, seeing the UFO, they felt "primal horror" and quickly left.
Guillermo del Toro directed the films Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, and the TV series The Strain. In September, del Toro's The Shape of Water became the best film at the Venice Film Festival.
