The first case of a terrible tropical disease was recorded in Tatarstan. A resident of Kazan went to the hospital to undergo a routine medical examination, and the doctors found he had a rare disease. Writes about this kazanfirst.ru.

Dmitry Kazanets (name has been changed) went for a routine examination. The one that each of us undergoes in local hospitals. They measure blood pressure, take a cardiogram, donate blood and undergo tests by other specialists, including an ophthalmologist. It was at an appointment with an ophthalmologist that Dmitry was informed that he had a rare form of an infectious eye disease caused by the presence of parasites there.

Dirofilariasis of the eyes is characteristic of tropical countries. You can catch this infection in Sri Lanka, on the territory of Southern and Eastern Europe, Asia Minor. Until now, this diagnosis has not been made to anyone in Tatarstan. Doctors recorded it for the first time.

This disease is more common in middle-aged men. Mosquitoes are one of the vectors of the disease. Stray dogs are the source of infection for them. A person can get an infection while relaxing by a pond or traveling. The most dangerous period lasts from May to September. At this time, the number of carriers of dirofilariasis increases especially strongly.

After getting an infection, worms appear in the eye. The parasites are visible to the naked eye and resemble twisted threads or knots. The movement of worms in the eye is sometimes mistaken for hallucinations. In addition, a person's visual acuity decreases. Diagnosis of the disease is often difficult; it is possible to identify the pathogen only after removing it from the eye.

Dmitry was lucky. His infection was detected in a timely manner. Now the resident of Kazan will have to undergo a course of treatment.

In Moscow, the larvae of a tropical parasite worm found in the penis of a sick person

Hundreds of tropical parasite larvae have settled in the male dignity of a 25-year-old Muscovite who returned from an Indian resort. A man suffering from unbearable itching postponed his visit to the doctors until the last moment.

According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, according to their source from the office of tropical medicine and parasitic diseases at the infectious diseases hospital №1, the Muscovite, a manager by profession, was vacationing in Indian Goa in the company of his girlfriend. The couple spent most of their time on the beach.

Severe itching in the area of intimate places - the penis and scrotum, as well as the lower abdomen, began to torment the tourist towards the end of the holiday. However, after returning to his homeland, the man was in no hurry to consult with doctors in the hope that the trouble would go away on its own.

When the suffering reached its climax, the Muscovite went to the doctor from the district clinic, and he concluded that it was a common dermatitis. The prescribed treatment did not help, so the man decided to seek help from specialists in tropical diseases.

And those at the very first appointment concluded that the patient had become a victim of the so-called canine hookworm. The larvae of this worm live in the sand, where they get along with the feces of bobiks, and a person becomes infected when they touch such sand.

To this the man objected - they say, on the beach he was always in swimming shorts, and lay exclusively on the rug. However, he recalled that sometimes there were grains of sand on the bedding - perhaps from slippers. Then the doctors wondered why in this case hookworm larvae were not deployed in other places - on the chest, for example.

When the patient read out the position in which he was sunbathing on the beach, everything became clear - he was lying on his elbows so that it would be more convenient to look at his laptop, in contact with particles of sand in the lower abdomen. And the parasites entered the delicate place through wide shorts. Hundreds of moving worms were clearly visible through the skin. However, the Muscovite did not even suspect that these were parasites.

Doctors prescribed specific treatment for the patient.
