Scientists at the US Naval Research Laboratory in the Plasma Physics Division reported on their website that they conducted a successful experiment using the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) located at in Alaska.

HAARP antennas, covering an area of almost 20 hectares, sent powerful high-frequency electromagnetic radiation into the upper atmosphere - into the ionosphere. And it literally lit the sky at an altitude of 170 kilometers, creating a stable cloud of plasma there. The glow discharge lasted for about an hour.
The plasma cloud created as a result of the experiment described in the message was far from the first. HAARP has generated them before. But for the first time, a record density was achieved - 900 thousand electrons per cubic centimeter. This is more than twice as dense as before.
According to explanations from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which commissioned the research, they are being carried out in order to create artificial plasma formations in the atmosphere - below the natural ionosphere - capable of reflecting radio waves. Specifically, shortwave signals. Like, there are no other goals.

However, not everyone believes in the American military. And they suspect that they use HAARP from time to time as a climatic and tectonic weapon. At least, they are experimenting in this area - they try to cause weather disasters like heavy rainfall or hurricanes, provoke earthquakes by affecting the ionosphere with radiation. Some people generally believe that plasma clouds are created in order to shoot down enemy intercontinental missiles.
