Warwick Castle (UK)
It was built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror. The castle has a so-called ghost
tower”, where the ghost of Sir Fulk Greville, one of the owners of the castle, who was killed in 1628 by his own servant, lives. On the wall in the tower hangs his portrait, from which Greville seems to descend at night.
Another place in the castle that enjoys otherworldly fame is the dungeon where criminals were once kept. There are rusty bars and torture instruments. It is interesting that when people touch them, their health worsens, weakness and even nausea appear.

Chillingham Castle (UK)
Once upon a time there was a prison with a torture room. For three years, a certain John Sage served as an executioner in prison. He had about fifty "clients" a week, whom he tortured and killed. Sometimes at night you can hear sounds from the former torture room, as if someone is dragging the body.
The castle also has a Pink Room, which was once visited by the ghost of the Blue Boy. Those who had to spend the night in this room said that they heard loud crying at night, and then saw flashes of blue light above the bed. During the reconstruction of the castle, skeletons belonging to an adult man and a boy were found in the 10-meter wall. After this, the apparitions of the ghost ceased.
Edinburgh Castle (Scotland)
It was built in the XII century. at the site of an extinct volcano. In the castle, according to legends, there are quite a lot of ghosts. The most famous of these is the ghost of Lady Glamis, who was burned at the stake in 1537 on charges of witchcraft. Later, in 1650, the phantom of a drummer boy, whose head was cut off, appeared here. Other ghostly inhabitants here are a musician playing the bagpipes, an old man in a leather apron, and, finally, the ghost of a dog that for some reason loves to run around the local cemetery.
Brissac Castle (France)
Located in the picturesque Loire Valley, it is the tallest castle in France. It has seven floors. In addition, according to statistics, this is the most visited haunted castle in the world.
The main legend of Brissac is associated with one of its former owners - a certain Pierre de Brese, who lived in the 11th century. His wife Charlotte made herself a commoner lover. Moreover, they indulged in love pleasures in chambers located almost through the wall from the husband's bedroom. They say that at night Brese perfectly heard the moans of passion of his beloved … But one day Charlotte and her lover mysteriously disappeared. Most likely, they were killed either by Pierre de Brese himself, or by his order. Meanwhile, at night Brese continued to hear groans from the empty room. This almost drove him crazy, and in the end he left Brissac. And strange sounds can still be heard if you dare to spend the night in the castle.
Moosham Castle (Austria)
This castle, built in the XII century, is also called the Witch's Castle. In the years 1675-1687. it served as a prison for thousands of women accused of witchcraft. Here the inquisitors tortured the prisoners, and then they were put to death. They say that many of those executed remained within these walls in the form of ghosts.
Dragsholm Castle (Denmark)
In the castle chapel in 1532, a priest was hacked to death with a sword. Moreover, his brother, a soldier, became the killer. After that, the ghost of the murdered person settled forever in the chapel, which they began to call the Bloody one.
A monster also lives in Dragsholm. He is described as being about the size of a sheep. He has a human face, but instead of eyes there are black holes. The appearance of the monster is announced by the characteristic smell of rot.
In the dungeon of the castle there is a room where prisoners sentenced to death were thrown through a special hatch. There, metal spikes were built into the floor, which pierced human bodies through and through …
Predjama Castle (Slovenia)
It is a fortress built inside a cave to fend off enemy attacks. In the XIV-XV centuries. the castle was destroyed as a result of numerous enemy sieges, as well as a series of earthquakes. In 1567 it was rebuilt.
There are many secret tunnels where ghosts live. These are mainly phantoms of soldiers who died on the territory of the fortress. Sometimes from the dungeons some sounds and steps are clearly heard, while there is no one below.
Krustpils Castle (Latvia)
Its ghostly inhabitant is the Brown Lady. Legend has it that a young baron once lived in the castle, and he fell in love with a local cook. He wanted to marry the girl, which caused the indignation of his family. As a result, the girl was tricked into a dungeon and walled up alive there …
Since then, in the vicinity of the castle, a phantom of the unfortunate woman has been seen more than once, dressed in a brown homespun dress. They say that at night a ghost approaches the castle from the park wall, sneaks into the kitchen and rattles dishes there.
Jelgava Palace (Latvia)
In the fall of 1997, during construction work, a 16th century cellar was discovered here. In the basement there were statues of giant sea monsters - leviathans. They were installed on the lawn in the courtyard, and at night the ghost of a little girl in a white robe began to appear there, playing next to the statues and singing songs. What relation does it have to the cellar and the figures stored in it, however, it has not yet been possible to find out.
