The Russian Research Institute of Steel and the Institute of Applied Nanotechnology have developed liquid armor. The new substance is planned to be included in the body armor of the next generation (thanks to it, the protection of soldiers will literally become smart). The invented material will react to the strike locally. In other words, this armor should self-compact exactly in the place where the shot is directed. Will the new invention be able to make our soldiers invulnerable to enemy bullets? What other developments in the field of means for protection will appear in the military?

Scientists called the new invention liquid armor. It is based on a protective gel with included nanoparticles. When hit by a bullet or any other sharp blow, it instantly reacts into a solid material.

The first tests showed that the substance cannot be used on its own, i.e. soaking a regular cloth with this gel will not be enough. But the bulletproof vest filled with it, upon contact with the bullet, bends by only 1 cm, and this is already a unique indicator.

Until now, the most durable body armor was considered Kevlar, i.e. made specially from para-aramid fiber, which, when exposed to external influence, seems to envelop the bullet, preventing it from penetrating into the soft tissues of a person, nevertheless, the shock wave itself remains strong enough, which means it can cause serious damage to the body.

However, this material of the future also has its drawbacks. Upon contact with water, it loses its protective properties by 40%. Experts are confident that this problem will be solved in the very near future.

According to the military, this novelty will fundamentally change the capabilities of our soldiers. After all, the bulletproof vests of the future promise to become not only more reliable, but also 4 times lighter than those available today. For example, the average weight of a Kevlar vest is from 12 kg, while the new product is not heavier than 3 kg.

It is still unknown when the new means of protection will enter service with the Russian army. The process of their introduction into widespread operation is greatly slowed down by the price of the product.

However, liquid armor is not the only technology that the army is eagerly awaiting.

The American military is promised to provide a superman combat suit. The new garment will be based on an external frame (the so-called exoskeleton), which, according to scientists, will give its owner superhuman strength. Moreover, with the help of the built-in computer, the clothes of the future will be able to control not only the health of a soldier, but also, if necessary, even provide him with first aid.
