In the city of Troitsk, Chelyabinsk region, rabbits are dying en masse. Two local residents told reporters that an unknown creature killed 19 rabbits in their courtyard last week. Frightened farmers suspected the Chupacabra - a mythical creature that destroys livestock.
Local resident Svetlana Erykalova told the Ural 24 portal that she came to feed the rabbits in the morning and saw a terrible picture: the cages were open and the corpses of animals were scattered everywhere. “We assumed that hooligans had climbed up to us. We were upset, of course, but could not think that it would happen again,”the woman said.
In the evening, the owners of the farm heard a strange rustle in the yard. Then a dog whined in the street, and the puppy in the house hid in the far room.
“My 20-year-old son jumped out into the street and saw some mystical animal right in front of him: small in stature, something like a dog, on its hind legs like a kangaroo. He swung his ax, and the animal began to move away in great leaps,”said another farmer Elena Shemetova.
According to her, the beast easily jumped over the fence and disappeared without leaving a trace. And to the seven rabbits found dead in the morning, 12 more were added, which an unknown creature strangled in the evening.
However, veterinarians are skeptical about the Chupacabra story. The head of the Troitsk regional veterinary station for combating animal diseases, Nikolai Sytko, believes that things are much more prosaic.

“The rabbits may have died from a viral hemorrhagic disease. Yes, this happens: in the evening they are still running healthy, but during the night they all died, especially if they were not vaccinated. But now it is difficult to judge this, only a guess: the exact cause of death of animals can be determined only during autopsy,”he said.
Earlier reports about the chupacabra - a "goat vampire" that destroys but does not eat livestock - came from different regions of Russia and from Belarus. The Moscow Region Ministry of Agriculture assured: there are no mythical creatures in the Moscow region, and stray dogs attack the sheep.
In the Vitebsk region, where the mysterious "Chupacabra" was also frolicking last year, its secret was also solved. As it turned out, a raccoon dog attacked the cattle there. It was not easy to identify the beast, as it was bald from scabies and really looked like some kind of fabulous monster.
In the Komi District, where in 2013, traces of the mysterious killer of rabbits and poultry were also noticed, there was also no mystery. According to the wool found at the scene of the incident, the hunting experts established that the mink attacked the domestic animals.
