Do you think scientists have already managed to explore all corners of our planet? But no. Even today, we continue to meet previously unknown species of strange creatures that resemble more the scenery from science fiction films than real animals. Nobody believed in these before, but they are!
Blue parrot fish
In Polynesia, fish is so prized that it is considered a royal dish. It is traditionally eaten raw, not paying attention to the fact that the fish envelops itself in transparent mucus to protect it from predators.
Goblin shark
This rare shark is sometimes even called a “living fossil”: the goblin is the only surviving member of the Mitsukurinidae family with a pedigree of about 125 million years.

Darwin's Bat
The homeland of the bat (which is not even a bat at all, but even a fish) is the Galapagos Islands. The swimmer from it is terrible: the poor fellow is forced to move along the bottom on foot, fiddling with fins.
Panda ant
These representatives of the order Mutillidae received such a nickname for their coloring. Despite the peaceful name, ants are quite dangerous and their bites are very painful.
Mantis shrimp
A born hunter of the deep sea. The shrimp waits in ambush for their prey, then jumps out and delivers a devastating blow, comparable to that of a 22-caliber bullet.
Rough tree viper
Rough, you can't say more precisely. These tree vipers, more like medieval dragons, live in Africa. Rough reptiles rarely attack people, only when they defend their hunting grounds.
Indian purple frog
And here is another representative of living fossils. The Indian purple frog is found on only 14 square kilometers on the entire planet. It is strange that it has not died out until now: the frog spends its whole life underground, getting to the surface only twice a year.
Okapi
Zebra? Donkey? Broken horse? Okapi delights the eyes of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa. Don't be fooled by color or appearance: in fact, okapi are closer to giraffes than horses and zebras.
Moloch
Where, if not in Australia, can you meet a spiny lizard? Moloch hunt insects at night and are relatively safe. Which, of course, you can never tell from their appearance.
Kitoglav
A bird for which no laws are written at all. Kitheads like to sit absolutely still (the discoverers were very surprised, mistaking the bird for a figurine), use their beak as a refrigerator and bathe their chicks.
