Ufological situation
Since ancient times, this country has been associated with myths and legends about "little people". In some rural areas, these beliefs persist today, and reports of meetings with characters from local folklore are known in the 20th century.
The UFO community is developing rather slowly here, although there is a strong national organization IUFOPRA in Dublin, originally created as a branch of the British association BUFORA. The subsidiary spun off from the center in 1994 and in 1997 hosted the first major conference. Following the lead of numerous European groups, IUFOPRA conducts interdisciplinary research.
In accordance with its name, which stands for the Irish Association for UFO and Paranormal Research, IUFOPRA does study a variety of strange phenomena, not limited to ufology. Research groups outside the United States tend to draw similar parallels across a wide range of research areas.

Not surprisingly, the origins of UFO sightings in a country like Ireland are lost in antiquity. In the city of Cloera, a legend is told that dates back to 1211, and its authenticity is, of course, questionable. This legend tells of a flying ship that dropped anchor at a local church during Mass. The parishioners allegedly saw people hovering through the air towards the lowered anchor to unhook it, after which the ship flew away.
A more typical UFO sighting was recorded in September 1924 in County Wexford. Two boys walked along a country road and were forced to give way to an approaching bright beam of light, reminiscent of the headlights of an invisible car. The fire hovered a few centimeters above the ground, then turned at right angles, flew over the fence and disappeared into the fields in the direction of the railroad. There are reports of similar lights in the sky today. In one such case, a military investigation was carried out, a copy of which the Irish government, contrary to the policy of the British authorities, willingly submitted for study to IUFOPRA, and this organization has kindly sent it to the author of this book. The contrast with the behavior of the British Department of Defense was all the more striking as some of the eyewitnesses were from Wales. Some of the events also took place over the territory of Wales, and the British government classified information about these observations, and the Irish government made it public.

The main event of this series of observations occurred in the early morning of March 31, 1993, with six crew members of a military helicopter flying at an altitude of about 500 meters between Baldonell and County Donegal. Near Mullingar, the pilots noticed and for more than two minutes observed with night vision devices a large object, shining with two lights and leaving a barely noticeable trail of gas. It may have been the charred remains of a Kosmos satellite that entered the earth's atmosphere, but ground station NORAD denied this theory in a report to the Irish Armed Forces investigation team.
There are also several known cases of the TKZ category, and possibly TK4, although their number is significantly less than the nearest neighbor - Great Britain. Overall, there are between 30 and 50 UFO reports each year. Despite the support given in the Mullingar investigation, there are signs of an officially sanctioned withholding of information that is rampant everywhere. IUFOPRA actively tried to break the veil of secrecy around the May 1996 incident in Roscommon, but researchers ran into a wall of silence. However, many local residents claim that after a series of UFO sightings in this mountainous area, a certain aircraft, presumably a military reconnaissance helicopter, crashed on a hillside. There is informationthat the area of the incident was cordoned off and on its territory, at the direction of the government, search work was carried out for some time, although official sources categorically deny this.
Ireland has served as the scene for several very unusual cases. In 1976, a Belfast woman claimed to have had long-term telepathic contact with friendly aliens. Even stranger is the story of a UFO seen by two men on the banks of the Bann River near Derryvor on January 26, 1968.
Eyewitnesses claim that the object landed, some creatures came out of it and placed probes in the field among the cows paralyzed by shock. The object then took off and a hail of sparks fell to the ground, which concentrated into a fog that enveloped the people, causing them to itch. The UFO plunged into this cloud and disappeared.
Waves and special zones
Data on large waves are lacking, and observations are concentrated in rural areas, especially near mountains and lakes.
