Russian scientists have established a connection between nightmares and the state of human physical health.

So, the appearance of "ominous" dreams is explained by the fact that this or that disease has already begun, but is in an early stage, in the incubation period, - say psychologists, the authors of this discovery.

It turns out that nerve impulses come from the diseased organ to the brain, but they are so weak that they do not reach consciousness in the waking state, since they simply cannot compete with external stimuli. And in a dream, these stimuli begin to break through into the cortical formations and cause unpleasant dreams.

The scientifically grounded development of early diagnosis of diseases based on the content of dreams belongs to Doctor of Medical Sciences Vasily Kasatkin. For 30 years, he studied several thousand healthy and sick people and outlined the plot plots of dreams in various diseases.

According to him, the nature of the dream changes approximately 2-3 months before the discovery of hypertension in a person, a month before gastritis, two months before the first signs of tuberculosis, and some painful processes are predicted even a year before their appearance. Moreover, in many cases, by the nature of the visual scenes, it is quite accurately possible to predict not only what kind of disease threatens the body, but also to indicate the location of the lesion.

For example, a person develops lung disease. He may dream that he either wants to emerge from the water, but cannot; or, as if some weight is pressing on his chest; or he is climbing a mountain and he finds it hard to breathe.

According to Kasatkin, with the same disease, the plot of a dream will vary depending on the person's profession, education, ideas about the disease.
