Reports of anomalous phenomena occurring in the village of Kitaynovo in the Yuzhsky District appeared in early May. Locals reported seeing unidentified flying objects almost every evening, the appearance of which is accompanied by bright light effects.
In early July, a video was published on the materials of the reconnaissance expedition to Kitanovo, which was made by members of the Kosmopoisk research association from Murom, Ivanovo and Nizhny Novgorod in order to collect reliable information about this phenomenon.
A local resident, whom the researchers met on the way to the village, said that his acquaintance, who was not at home at the time of the conversation, saw bright lights over the local airfield (now not operating). A more detailed description of the unusual phenomenon was given to the participants of "Cosmopoisk" by a resident of the village of Kitaynovo Galina Dmitrievna, who, in her own words, repeatedly witnessed the appearance of unidentified flying objects.
She describes one of them as a "star" that moved in different directions, and then disappeared behind the nearby trees, after which it became "as bright as day" for a while. According to the woman, the "star" has been arriving almost every evening for about two months, and during this time the point at which its movement ends has shifted a little further from the village.
The woman said that over the past weeks, similar objects have appeared several times, in different directions relative to the village, and illuminated the surrounding area with bright directed "rays". This usually happened around half past nine in the evening. According to the woman's impression, the trajectory of the objects ends in the immediate vicinity of the village, at a low altitude from the ground.
She showed the expedition members those places on the field located near the village, near which, in her opinion, UFOs were observed. Unlike man-made flying machines such as helicopters, which sometimes fly over the village during the day, glowing objects do not make any noise.
During the night observations conducted by the researchers, no bright UFOs similar to those described by eyewitnesses were recorded. Lights appear on the video recorded during the observation, but it is still difficult to make an unambiguous conclusion about their nature. It is likely that they have a rational explanation, for example, due to the appearance of Venus or another astronomical object.
After the end of the expedition, one of the local residents received a message that bright spherical objects were observed again. It is hoped that in the future, researchers will be able to establish how reliable the reports of local residents are and what is the nature of the anomalous phenomena occurring in the Yuzhsky district.

On May 17, 2014 at 23h 40m, an object was observed that had two rear aeronautical lights. The video shows that 3 strobes in the shape of a triangle flash synchronously, and when they are not lit, only 1 red dot is visible in the middle. The video was filmed without a tripod, so the subject on the record makes chaotic movements. In fact, the object moved in a straight line from west to east, passed over the observers (through the zenith).
An attempt to identify the lights and associate them with helicopters and airplanes failed. The lights are clearly not associated with this technique.
