In the seaside town of Tiaro (Queensland, Australia), a winery was being built on the site of 39-year-old entrepreneur Keith Rylance. On the evening of October 4, 2001, the site owner, his 22-year-old wife Amy, and their business partner, 35-year-old Petra Heller, were at the construction site.
Beam takes Amy
At about 9:30 pm, Keith went to the bedroom of their common temporary dwelling - the trailer (caravan house), Petra went into another room, and Amy sat on the sofa in front of the TV in the living room.
At about 11 pm, Keith was awakened by screams. He rushed into the living room and saw Petra, close to hysteria. Amy was not in the room, and the window's torn mosquito net hung down to the floor. Without getting an explanation from Petra, Keith ran to find Amy. However, I did not find it anywhere. Returning to the house, he managed to calm down Petra a little, and she, more or less clearly, told what had happened.
According to her, she suddenly woke up with a feeling of anxiety, looked into the living room and was dumbfounded. A rectangular beam of light shone in the room. Its end was as if cut off. Inside the beam lay Amy asleep, and he pulled her head first through the open window. And outside the window, Petra saw a disc-shaped UFO hanging above the earth itself. After that, the woman's consciousness clouded over, and she fell senseless to the floor. When she came to, she began to scream and call for help.
At first Keith took Petra's story as some kind of nonsense, not believing a single word, and again went to look for Amy. But returning with nothing at about 11.45 pm, the winemaker called the police. After explaining the situation to the duty officer, the businessman asked to immediately send police officers to the construction site. An hour and a half later, Chief Constable Robert Marana and Sergeant John Bosniak appeared there.

She was found
At first, the arrivals decided that Rylance was simply fooling them, or that they were at the scene of a murder committed with cold calculation. But then, looking at the worried victims and listening to their answers to questions, the law enforcement officers took the version of Amy's abduction by aliens more seriously. They examined the mosquito net, found that the rose bush growing near the window seemed to be burned, and also made sure that there was no trace of Amy near the trailer and in the surrounding area. The police took samples of leaves and flowers from the burnt bush, as well as the soil next to it, for analysis.
As the police were about to leave, the phone rang. An unknown woman called from the town of McKay, located about 700 kilometers from Tiaro. She said that she picked up a young woman who was in a semi-shock state at a gas station on the outskirts of the city and took her to the city hospital, where she was examined by a doctor - now her health is out of danger. The victim said her name was Amy Rylance. and gave the phone number she asked to call.
Thanking the savior, Keith, with her permission, handed the phone over to Senior Constable Marana. The woman repeated her story. After listening to him and receiving answers to clarifying questions, Marana immediately reported all these events to the police department of the city of McKay.
Big and small
While still in the hospital, Amy spoke in the presence of a lawyer and police officers about what had happened to her from the moment she was left alone in the living room in front of the TV.
First Amy sat on the couch, then lay down and dozed off. She does not remember what Petra saw, but she does remember that, suddenly waking up, she found herself lying on a table in a brightly lit unfamiliar square room. Light streamed from the walls and ceiling. There was no one in the room except her. At first she felt no fear and shouted out loudly, "Hey, is there anyone here?" No one appeared, but in response, a pleasant male voice sounded in her head, asking Amy not to worry and assuring her that no one would harm her, that everything would be fine with her.
Soon an opening appeared in the wall, and someone more than two meters tall entered the room. He was slim, well built, dressed in a tight-fitting jumpsuit. His face was covered with a black mask with slits for eyes, nose and lips, which was actually scary. But a man (or a humanoid?) Approached the table, and again there were words of comfort. Then several more individuals appeared. Their clothes consisted of either tight-fitting overalls or suits worn by operating theater personnel, and their faces were covered with gray masks. Two were of normal human height, the rest resembled dwarfs. Further, only isolated episodes emerged in Amy's memory. She remembers that she was told about the design of the spacecraft, which she got on, and that, according to the owners, it is all built on the principles of nanotechnology.
Amy believed that she had spent seven days "visiting", that during her stay there several times she went to bed and woke up in a comfortable bed in a small cozy bedroom. Before releasing Amy, the tall "guy" said that they would drop her off near the construction site, as it would be unsafe for the ship to descend above the site itself.
Strange marks and regrown hair
Next Amy found herself lying on the ground among tall trees. She smelled the sea and heard the sound of the waves, so she decided to go in the opposite direction, hoping to get on the road. The winemaker's wife made her way through the dense bushes for a long time, was very tired, but in the end she went out onto the highway and saw the lights of a gas station nearby. Amy got there with the last of her strength, her legs scratched in blood ached and gave way, she was terribly thirsty. The workers of the station gave the traveler water and rendered all possible assistance. At that moment, the girl almost lost consciousness and could not even tell who she was, where she came from and how she got here, she only repeated the request to take her to the hospital, which was what the woman who called Keith did.
When Amy got better, she was taken to the McKay Police Department, where she told about the incident. Amy was then accommodated at a nearby motel, where Kate and Petra came to pick her up the next morning.
The visiting doctor examined Amy carefully and drew up a report, attaching photographs to it. The pictures showed a strange triangular mark on the inside of the right thigh, round red spots on both heels, and a natural color at the roots of the hair, although Amy dyed her hair on the eve of the trip to the construction site. The latter circumstance perplexed everyone except her. The "native" color could appear no earlier than a week after painting, but Amy just claimed that she had been with the aliens for a whole week.
Experts lead the investigation
On the same day, Keith called AUFORN - the Australian UFO Research Network - and told the director of the organization, Diana Harrison, about the incident. What she heard made a strong impression on Dayana, she was especially interested in the use of a rectangular beam of light by the kidnappers. In addition, there was a clear time shift. Dayana contacted Bill Choker, one of Australia's leading ufologists, a member of the editorial staff of the International UFO Newsletter, and the author of The Case of Oz: A History of UFOs in Australia in 1996. They decided to act together.
Dayana and Bill began their investigation by inspecting Keith's trailer and site. Arriving at the place on the evening of October 9, the researchers immediately noticed the sociable dog Rylance, which caressed the visitors, strove to lick everyone, then rushed to the house and, jumping up, took out the middle of the window with a mosquito net with its paws. This was alarming: it was after such a swoop that the net could be torn off.
In the morning, ufologists examined the burnt bush near the window, as well as bushes growing nearby. It turned out that other plants had similar "burns". The neighbor's gardener explained that this is a fairly common occurrence here, the result of "sunstroke" in hot, calm weather.
Facts or … a practical joke?
And nevertheless, there were two fixed and completely incomprehensible facts.
Firstly, it took less than three hours from the moment Amy disappeared from the trailer to her appearance at the McKay gas station. Of these, at least half an hour, the girl made her way through the forest to the road.
The question arises: how could Amy cover the distance between the cities of Ti-aro and McKay, equal to 700 kilometers in two and a half hours? Obviously, nothing but … the ship of her captors.
Secondly, Amy's dyed hair, supposedly grown in a week, and its natural color. It turns out that seven days on a UFO passed on Earth in just three hours!
Of course, one can assume that Keith, Amy and Petra have talentedly wrote this whole story and turned it into a skillfully directed performance. After all, his first act - from the moment Amy was abducted to her appearance at the gas station - was played without a single spectator, that is, without a single witness. However, all three participants in the "play" are serious people who can hardly be suspected of such a strange pastime. Well … The riddle remains a mystery.
