In Purgatory or on the other side of the grave
Purgatory - Kamaloka (literally translated - a place or dwelling place of desires; it, represents the astral spheres, a "part" not in the sense of a certain area, but according to the conditions of consciousness of those creatures that belong to it.
These are deceased human beings who have lost their physical bodies and who need to go through certain processes of purification before moving into those happy and peaceful conditions of life that are intended for the true human essence, for the human soul.
This area represents precisely such conditions, which are described as different types of "hell", purgatory or transitional state and which are accepted by all religions as the temporary location of a person after he leaves his body and before reaching "heaven". This, of course, is a temporary state, because the eternal hell, about which narrow religious fanatics are still talking about, is no more than the delirium of ignorance, hatred and fear. But Purgatory contains, in reality, the conditions of suffering, temporary and purifying by its very nature, as if the eradication of those sins that were committed during life on earth by a person experiencing purifying sufferings.
This is as natural and inevitable as in this world bad consequences that follow bad deeds are inevitable, because we live in a world governed by immutable laws, where every seed will inevitably grow this, and not another plant. Death does not change anything in the moral and mental human nature, and the change of state caused by the transition from one world to another takes away his physical body, but leaves the person himself the same as he was on earth.
The conditions of Kamaloka are repeated in each division of the astral sphere, so that we can talk about the seven areas of Purgatory, naming them: first, second, third, up to the seventh, starting with the lowest and counting up.
The materials of each of the divisions of the astral sphere are part of the astral body, and the peculiarity of these materials, which we will now explain, is that the creatures that reside in one area are separated from the creatures that are in another, and only the inhabitants of the same areas can come into communication.
Such areas, or subdivisions of the astral sphere, differ from one another in density, and the degree of density of the outer form of the inhabitant of Kamaloka determines the boundary beyond which he cannot cross.

Such differences in the properties of matter represent natural obstacles to the transition from one area to another.
Creatures that are in one area cannot come into contact with creatures from another area in the same way as fish from the depths of the sea could not enter into communication with an eagle, because the environment necessary for the first to live had a destructive effect on the eagle.
When the physical body was struck by death, the etheric body, taking with it the "prana" and the rest of the human principles, stands out from the dense body. All vital energies leaving the body are drawn into one center and collected by "prana", and their release from the body is expressed by numbness, which takes possession of the physical senses; the latter remain inviolable, physically unharmed, ready to act, as they always did, but the "inner ruler" is gone, the one who through them saw, heard, smelled, tasted, touched, and without him, by themselves, they are nothing more than aggregates matter, not devoid of life, but incapable of perception. Slowly, the "lord" of the body leaves him, clothed in a gray-purple etheric body and busy contemplating the panorama of his whole life, which at the hour of death unfolds before him in all the details he has experienced. This picture of life captures all the events of his earthly existence, both great and small.
He sees everything that he coveted in life: his unfulfilled expectations, and his efforts, and triumphs, and failures, and his attachments and antipathies; the prevailing meaning of all life appears definitely, its guiding thought is clarified and imprinted deeply in the soul, determining the area where most of the afterlife of the deceased will pass. The moment is solemn when a person stands face to face with his life and from the mouth of his past hears a warning about his future. For a short moment he sees himself as he is, learns the true purpose of life and becomes convinced that the law is irresistible, just and good. Following this, the magnetic connection between the dense and the etheric body is broken, the comrades of earthly life are separated and, except in exceptional cases, a person is immersed in a peaceful unconscious state.
Quietly and reverently, everyone who has gathered around the dying person should behave, and the solemn silence should not be broken, so as not to distract the person departing from the review of the past life sweeping before his inner gaze.
Loud crying and noisy complaints can disturb the dying person and disturb the focused attention of his soul, and therefore burst with his personal grief into the silence, which helps and calms the departing person, both rudely and selfishly. In religion there is a wise foresight, an injunction to recite prayers for the death over the dying; thanks to these prayers, silence is maintained, and the desire to help the departing one evokes in those around him, which, like any thought of love, protects and protects the one to whom it is directed.
Some time after death, usually after 36 hours, the person leaves his etheric body, leaving it in turn as an insensitive corpse, which, remaining close to its dense double, shares his fate. If the physical body is lowered into the grave, the etheric double hovers over it, slowly disintegrating into its component parts, and the unpleasant feeling that many may experience in cemeteries depends mainly on the presence of these decaying etheric corpses.
But if the body is burned, its etheric double disintegrates due to the fact that it loses its physical center of attraction.
The removal of a person from the etheric double is accompanied by the release of "prana" from him, which immediately returns to the great reservoir of cosmic life, while a person who is ready to go to Purgatory undergoes some changes in his astral body, which needs to adapt to the cleansing process necessary for liberation of the person himself. During the earthly life of a person, various kinds of astral matter penetrate into the composition of his astral body in the same way as solid, liquid, gaseous and etheric particles penetrate into the physical body. The changes that occur after death in the astral body consist in the separation of these materials, according to their relative density, into a series of concentric shells or "shells", with the thinnest being inside, and the densest outside, and each "shell" is formed from materials,extracted from the corresponding unit of the astral sphere.
Thus, the astral body becomes a combination of seven superimposed layers, or a seven-component cover of astral matter, in which a person remains imprisoned until the disintegration of this complex cover frees him. Now it becomes clear what great importance is the purification of the astral body during earthly life. A person lingers in each subdivision of purgatory until the shell of matter corresponding to the passable area disintegrates so that the person can freely move further. Moreover, the degree of his consciousness in each of the seven divisions of the Astral World decides whether he will be detained in this area or whether he will pass through it in an unconscious state, immersed in “pink dreams”, and will stop there just so long,how much time will be needed for a purely mechanical process of decomposition of its outer shell.
A spiritually developed person who has purified his astral body so much that only the finest particles of all the subdivisions of astral matter enter into its constituent parts, passes through Purgatory without any slowdown, while his astral body is destroyed very quickly, and he is freely directed to the limit, to which the stage of evolution he has reached can admit him.
A less developed person, but who led a pure and abstinent life, who did not give up his soul for earthly blessings, will pass less quickly through purgatory, but also in a peaceful slumber, without realizing his surroundings, while his mental body gradually frees itself from astral shells, throwing them off one after another, to wake up only after reaching the heavenly abode.
An even less developed person will awaken after passing through the lower regions and return to consciousness in that area of purgatory, with which the work of his consciousness was associated during his earthly life; because consciousness awakens only when the usual vibrations reach it, although now they are already perceived directly, through the astral body, without the help of the physical. As for people who lived, surrendering to animal passions, they will awaken in a suitable area for them, because each person is literally directed "to his own place."
The posthumous experiences of people who were suddenly snatched from the physical world, due to an accident, suicide, violent death or another kind of sudden death, differ from the experiences of the dead due to a decline in vital energy from illness or old age.
If they were pure and spiritually disposed, they are carefully guarded after death and they sleep in a happy sleep until the end of their normal life. But in other cases, suicides or untimely killed people retain consciousness and continue for some time to experience the last scene of their earthly life, not noticing that they have already lost their physical body and are in that region of the astral sphere to which they belong in terms of the composition of the outer the layer of your astral body; in such cases, the normal purification period will begin after the expiration of their natural life on the earth plane, and until then they are vividly aware of both their astral and their physical environment.
The man who committed murder and was executed for it, experiences in purgatory again and again the scenes of the murder and the further horror of his arrest and execution. The suicide will automatically repeat the feelings of despair and fear that preceded his suicide, and he will relive his dying struggle with terrible persistence.
One woman, who died in the midst of the flames in a mood of wild horror, in frantic attempts to save herself, created such a whirlwind of passions around herself that 5 days later she continued to rush in despair, imagining herself still among the fire and wildly pushing away those who tried to calm her down, meanwhile how another woman, who died with a child on her chest in the depths of the sea during a terrible storm and retained courage and a heart full of love, plunged after physical death into a peaceful sleep, filled with happy and vivid visions of her beloved husband and children.
In more ordinary posthumous experiences, death from an accident still brings harm to a person and is caused by some of his serious misdeeds, for the preservation of full consciousness in the lower regions of purgatory, which is in close contact with the earth, is associated with many anxieties and dangers. Man is still full of all the interests and plans that filled him during his earthly life, and he is aware of the presence of people and things associated with him; he is almost irresistibly pushed to try to influence the affairs to which his passions and feelings still gravitate, and he experiences a strong attraction to the earth, although he no longer has physical organs of activity. In this case, the only means to find peace is to resolutely turn away from everything earthly and turn your consciousness to the highest;but comparatively few are able to make such an effort, even with the help of those who are always ready to support the suffering in the astral realm, whose duty it is to give help to those who have left the physical world.
Often such sufferers, exhausted by their helpless inaction, seek support from mediums with whom they are able to enter into intercourse and through them again intervene in earthly affairs; they often take possession of suitable mediums in order to use their bodies, and this brings on themselves more responsibility in the future. Not without occult reasons, the English priests included in their prayers: "Deliver us from war, murder and sudden death, Lord!"
