Nick Pope, an English journalist and ex-employee of the British Department of Defense, said that his government did not have specific plans in case of an alien invasion and suggested developing an appropriate strategy.
Pope worked in government for over 20 years from 1985 to 2006. Today he is engaged in the study of extraterrestrial life and is convinced that earthlings are not ready for contact with extraterrestrial intelligence. According to the journalist, the main problem is the lack of a strategic system during the invasion of aliens. The expert believes that the government does not think about many of the problems that may arise if extraterrestrial life forms are discovered. Pope suggested developing rules of conduct for 3 main scenarios:
1. One of the main problems can be contact with foreign microbes, which can be fatal to humans. It is necessary to consider not only the actions during the invasion of "humanoid" aliens, but also the discovery of alien microorganisms, for example, on the "Red Planet". In the latter case, scientists would rather want to study them here on Earth, and this, in turn, can be fraught with consequences.
2. Receiving signals from alien civilizations.
3. And finally, the most dangerous option is an open invasion with the arrival of alien ships on our planet. When such events developed, Pope suggested raising the alarm and declaring a state of emergency. After taking these measures, he advises to establish contact with aliens and, if necessary, develop a military strategy against a new enemy.
