Family Caroline Humphries (Caroline Humphries) settled in a house built in the XII century, 50 years ago. Immediately after the move, the British realized that they were not the only owners of the cottage.
“On the first night after moving, my father John was awakened by a ghost. He immediately examined the house, as well as the surrounding area and was horrified to find ancient burials under the building, recalls 51-year-old Caroline Humphries. “During the renovation of the house, we dug up one grave and found bones and daggers in it. Apparently, earlier sacrifices were made here to pagan gods. We didn’t want to continue excavations, so we didn’t touch the rest of the burials”.
According to the landlord, the Harris family soon witnessed strange incidents that defied logical explanation.
In the house, the "chilling" cries of a child began to be heard, furniture flew around, silhouettes of children appeared and beams swayed. Mysterious screams were even recorded during video filming: they continued until someone said in a male voice "get out of here."
“Once, when I was still a little girl, I woke up and found that a chest of drawers hung over my bed, and then it collapsed on the stairs. After that, I made the decision to sleep outside. The guests told us that they saw in one of the bedrooms a woman who looked like the high priestess and moving silhouettes. And we are used to hearing the screams and crying of ghostly children, - the woman tells the journalist of the Daily Mail. - We left toys in the rooms that temporarily relieved these sounds. This house is just terrible, so it cannot be sold."
The cottage's ominous reputation attracted the attention of paranormal lovers and writers who wanted to see with their own eyes the veracity of the scary stories.
The influx of visitors prompted the landlord to think about earning money from ghosts, and she introduced a fee for staying in the "damn place": $ 48 per night.
