And on July 22, 1966, the first high-altitude flight of the wingless glider M-2 - F-2, created by American engineers on the Nartrop aerostop, took place. An unusual glider - a 7-meter capsule, weighing 2500 kilograms, with two stabilizing keels on the thickened stern-under the wing of a heavy bomber, was raised to a height of 14,000 meters and unhooked.
The glider, piloted by the pilot Milton Thompson, smoothly rushed to the ground. After making several turns, the wingless vehicle landed on a salt lake. There have been several such flights.
