An American tourist traveling to London captured a ghost on his camera. Presumably it belongs to the fifth wife of Henry VIII, Catherine Howard.

45-year-old New Yorker Trevor Ty went on a tour of the Hampton Court palace and park complex. Without waiting for the excursion group, the tourist decided to explore the palace alone. Inside the palace, he took several photographs as a souvenir, including a beautiful marble staircase.

Back in New York, the man reviewed the pictures he had taken. Imagine his surprise when on the stairs he saw a silhouette that looked like a ghost. Ty decided that in front of him was the ghost of Catherine Howard, the wife of Henry VIII, who was executed for her unfaithfulness to her husband.

The American sent the photo to the address of the palace administration. Hampton Court management replied that this is not the first time they have met the Queen's ghost. Earlier, the palace guard claimed that he saw a girl on the stairs, who was transparent, as if woven from smoke.

The tragic fate of Catherine Howard

Henry VIII was married six times. English schoolchildren teach the fate of his wives using a "memory stick": "Divorced - executed - died, divorced - executed - survived." The king had 10 children, of whom only three survived. All of them subsequently occupied the throne.

Catherine Howard was the fifth wife of the king. The couple got married in 1540. The king adored the young wife. However, she was very careless and invited her youthful friends to the court. So her gentlemen from a past life appeared at court, which gave rise to Catherine's enemies to discredit her. After interrogation of Catherine, it turned out that the wife had been deceiving the king all the time.

When Henry was told about his wife's infidelity, he ordered her to be executed. The young woman was imprisoned in the Tower, and two days later she was beheaded on a scaffold in front of a curious crowd. The queen met death in a state of deep shock - she had to literally be carried to the place of execution.

Catherine Howard was buried in an unmarked grave in St. Peter's Chapel near Henry VIII's second wife Anne Boleyn, who was also executed by the king. The remains of women were found during the reconstruction of the chapel in 1876 during the reign of Queen Victoria.
