Scientists from California (USA) managed to create unique bio-batteries from human cells.
The presentation of a new type of batteries took place at the conference of the American Chemical Society in San Francisco.
The biosensor created by scientists looks like a small tattoo, but it can accumulate energy released during exercise. This energy can be further used, for example, even to recharge a phone or a player.
The principle of operation of such a battery is that it stores energy when sweat gets on it, which is released from people during physical activity. Once on the biosensor, sweat “turns on” the applied enzyme, resulting in the release of weak electricity.
Experts have already conducted a study involving 10 volunteers who had no health complaints. They pedaled a stationary bike for 30 minutes. The sensors installed on the study participants showed that energy is released during physical activity.
According to scientists, the Biobatteries they create charge much faster than conventional batteries. They also do not harm the environment and are safe for human health.
