Once upon a time the "navel of the Earth" was at the pole?

Those who study antiquity might have noticed that in many works of ancient literature the concept of "the navel of the Earth" is encountered. This place is often associated with the cradle of human civilization, while the very term "navel" in most ancient languages meant "center". However, where exactly was this "navel of the Earth"?..

It is known that some consider and call Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean as such. One can come across versions of Jerusalem as this very “navel of the Earth”. A separate hypothesis mentions Rome. However, if you seriously approach the issue and study the ancient sources, it turns out that the "navel of the Earth" corresponds to a completely different place on Earth. And it was at … the North Pole - the antediluvian pole of the ancient Earth. Don't believe me? Let's check.

In the Indian Puranas it is constantly repeated that the Earth is a sphere and that Mount Meru (Meroe), from which four sources flowed, is its polar navel. But the very word “nabhi” - “navel” - is older than the Puranas, although the word “purana” itself means “ancient”. Like the term "navel of heaven", it is found in the oldest hymns of the Vedas. But where was this sanctuary to which the hymns refer? Nothing indicates that it was in India. But, on the other hand, the fifth stanza of the 185th hymn of the first mandala of the Rig Veda seems to most fully denote the North Pole. In this stanza, Night and Day are presented as twin sisters in the womb of their parents - Heaven and Earth, mutually binding and limiting each other, but at the same time kissing the "nabhi" of the Earth.

Indeed, everywhere on Earth, with the exception of the polar region, night and day seem to persecute and displace each other. They have no common ground. At the pole - and only there! - about them we can say that with closed hands they rotate around a common center and kiss it in unity from two opposite sides. This is the true meaning put by the poet, and recalling the legendary beauty of the polar mountain, around which the sun and moon always walk, we must admit that this image in the Rig Veda is both beautiful and explanatory. The teachings of the Vedas even more accurately localize the "navel of the Earth" at the point of contact between the polar mountain and the pole of the northern sky.

The expression "apam nepat" - "navel of water" - is found again and again in the "Avesta" and always refers either to the world source of Ardvi Sura, which is located in the northern polar sky.

In addition, the vast majority of ancient Indian sources as a whole very accurately and purposefully point to the north as the ancestral home of their ancestors, including a number of surviving customs and traditions (orientation to the North Star, etc.) … There is no ambiguity - only the north! Which once had to be abandoned due to global climate change …

But this is ancient India! What do the myths and texts of other peoples say about the “navel of the Earth”?

The Chinese earthly paradise is described not only as the center of the Earth, but also as directly located under the Shang-di heavenly palace. This palace is reportedly located on the Pole Star and is sometimes referred to as the Central Palace. The Japanese Ainu, who are supposedly considered the first inhabitants of Japan, came to the archipelago "from the north", and their sky lies there, on "unattainable mountain peaks" …

At burial, they always lay the deceased so that their faces, after they are resurrected, are turned towards the high northern country, where they believe their ancestors came from and where their souls will return.

In Japanese cosmology, Izanagi's spear thrust downward became the straight axis of heaven and earth. The very place of Izanagi at the upper end of this axis can only be at the point of the North Pole and nowhere else

The ancient Mexicans believed that the cradle of humanity was in the far north, on the highest mountains, surrounded by clouds, where the god Tlaloc lived. From here come the rains and all the streams, since Tlaloc - the god of the Vedas - The first man of Quetzalcoatl after his reign in the days of the "golden age" (reminiscent of "zep tepi" - "the first time" in Egypt) returned to Mexico at the behest of God to the original paradise on north and drank the drink of immortality.

The Egyptians also localized their Ta-nuter, or "land of the gods", in the far north

Cuzco in Peru also means "navel", where four major roads converged to the borders of the kingdom - north and south, east and west. Complete imitation of four sources emanating from Mount Meru. Let's recall the medieval map of Mercator, where Hyperborea is schematically depicted in this way - in the region of the North Pole …

The Scandinavians also placed the mythical Asgard "in the center of the Earth" - on the pole where the "gods" -as lived.

There was a sunken arctic archipelago, whose image has been preserved on some ancient maps … It was here that the "navel of the Earth" was then.

But the Flood mixed all the climate maps and radically changed the face of the Earth. Only echoes of ancient knowledge remained …
