In the US state of North Carolina, a transgender inmate has filed a lawsuit against prison because the correctional institution does not allow him to practice witchcraft. Reported by the New York Post.

Jennifer Ann Jasmaine, formerly Duane Fox, claims that her constitutional right to practice Wicca, a nature-worshiped religion, has been violated.

According to the transgender person, she cannot eat appropriate food or wear ritual clothing. At the same time, Christians in the colony are allowed to perform religious services six times a week, Jazmain said. She also stated that she needed to perform rituals in nature twice a week.

Under state law, prisons are required to provide prisoners with all the conditions for the execution of religious practices. However, Jazmain said she applied for the necessary attributes - clothes, food, and candles - a month ago and still hasn't received a response.

“For Jazzmine, religion is not just a religion, it is a way of life. This is the path she has chosen for herself,”the statement of claim says. A spokesman for the state's Department of Public Safety declined to comment.

Duane Fox was sentenced in July 2014 to 16 years for sexual harassment.
