Many peoples of the world have mentioned a catastrophic flood that flooded the entire earth. And this testifies in favor of the fact that the biblical story of the Great Flood tells about an event that really happened in distant antiquity, and therefore left its mark on the epic and oral traditions of almost all peoples. The legends of the small peoples of Siberia also tell about the sudden arrival of the “big water”, but some details of the description of this event differ significantly from the biblical version.
So, a researcher from the Magadan region G. Tymnetagin, studying the life and mythology of small peoples of the northeastern part of Siberia, meeting with shamans and keepers of ancient knowledge, heard from one such guardian the following ancient legend, which he described in his book "Guardian of the North" … This is what he writes about this legend, beginning with a retelling of it and ending with his own comments:
How does this version of the Great Flood differ from the biblical version? Firstly, if the Bible describes the rain that fell "forty days and forty nights", then here the earth is flooded with water "from the south." At the same time, this water is heated to the state of boiling water, so there is a constant fog over it from vapors. All of this, of course, complicates salvation from such a disaster.
But why were the waters that came so hot? Obviously, their rise was by no means due to rain, but rather due to tectonic processes that heated the waters on the surface and in the crust of the Earth. But there was something else that caused a rather slow, but very large-scale and steady rise in the water level.
Another interesting detail: the presence of giant trees on the lands of Siberia before the disaster, which have not grown there for a long time, just as they do not grow in Eastern Europe. Some researchers hypothesize that this is the result of some kind of catastrophe or cataclysm that occurred on our continent, the main power of which hit Siberia.
Or could it be that this legend describes events related not to the biblical Great Flood, but to the destruction of Great Tartary several centuries ago? Indeed, in this case, all the differences in the description of the cataclysm are logically explained. Also, it becomes quite clear where the numerous cities of this once mighty state disappeared.
