There are suggestions that we are not the first on this Earth. And no matter how they boast of their technical achievements, there once lived those who were "cooler" than us. Even before the present mankind got off the trees (although this can also be argued), there were highly developed civilizations.

Scientists prefer to ignore the finds, which are millions of years old, because it may turn out that everything that they themselves learned and taught others goes down the drain: the origin of life on Earth, the origin of man, the age of civilization, etc. But people, seeing this innuendo, begin to put forward their various hypotheses or try to “shove” everything onto aliens.

So on the island of Malta - there are many mysteries, but there are almost no clues. The whole island is lined with ruts, which in some places go under the water. One gets the impression that Malta was once a hippodrome that has hosted giant chariot races for centuries.

Science cannot yet explain how these ruts appeared. Neither Greek nor Phoenician settlers could leave these traces. Their burials were found already over the furrows.

Scientists have tried to suggest that these traces were left by carts that transported stone blocks for the construction of megalithic temples (there are many of them in Malta). But, firstly, the wheel, according to official science, had not yet been invented, and secondly, the tracks go not only to the megaliths, but are scattered throughout the island.

So there are aliens, gods, Atlanteans. Some of them tried. Or maybe all together?

How do you like riddle number 2? The coast of Malta is made up of rocks, caves and underground labyrinths. In one of the caves, not far from the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, a cemetery of extinct animals was discovered. The bones of ancient birds, turtles, hippos and elephants in several layers in one place. It is possible that Malta was once connected by an isthmus with Sicily and large animals could freely enter the island. But they did not arrange a cemetery for themselves in this cave. So someone was collecting their remains. Who, when and for what purpose is unknown. It may well be that there was a place of sacrifices in the cave.

There are a lot of such mysteries in Malta and the neighboring island of Gozo. It remains to be hoped that scientists will someday budge and unravel at least some of them.
