The bionic eye, or Argus II, which was developed by British scientists, will help blind people see again.

Back in 2009, the first tests of a revolutionary device began, which has the ability to return "light in life" to blind people. Then a chip was implanted into the back of the eye, and a camera. They took a long time with this device - more than 6.5-7 years.

The process of work of the bionic eye is as follows: the camera, located in front on special glasses, "scans" the surrounding space and sends pictures to the chip, which, in turn, sends signals to the brain. Then electrical impulses are transmitted to the back wall of the retina, and the person, being guided by the incoming visual patterns, begins to see.

One of the first who managed to try this system (68-year-old Keith Hayman from Lancashire) says that the world has opened up to him again. Now he can see relatives, friends, and Christmas lights. Before the system is released, it will be tested for another year or two, and in 2019 it should enter the market. But the British authorities, namely the Ministry of Health, have already approved this program and are ready to allocate money from the budget.
