In the late 1980s, an avalanche of reports and investigations about strange phenomena suddenly poured into the pages of newspapers. They manifested themselves in different ways, but there was also something in common: what is generally called a poltergeist. Something or someone was making noise, knocking in the house, rearranging things from their usual places. Moreover, this did not happen in the countryside, to which the villagers, as a rule, were accustomed, since they always believed in the existence of a brownie and were not particularly surprised.
Eyewitnesses said that they heard incomprehensible sounds, similar to a monotonous tapping, reminiscent of a drum roll (hence - drumstick). Sometimes we observed more strange manifestations of a certain entity being in the apartment, moreover, sometimes the behavior of the intruders was quite aggressive. They slammed doors, played with water and fire, and sometimes caused physical harm. This is how the general reader learned about the invasion of the reams.
However, scientists have not been surprised by this for a long time: they know that an invisible, but quite active and really existing reel lives in almost every home. Otherwise, how can you explain that lost things suddenly appear in a conspicuous place or, for example, a person who has forgotten to turn off the tap or turn off the light, upon returning home, is convinced that someone has closed or turned off everything? Some people think that the reel is something like an au pair who keeps order in the house. However, if it happens that this assistant is out of sorts, then he can immediately turn into an offender, or even into a pest. Some eyewitnesses claim that the barabashka has been living with them for many years under the same roof, others say that such a roommate is a temporary phenomenon and he appears only for a while.
As it turned out, the activation of the action of the barabashka is associated with autumn and spring: it is during these periods that he clearly manifests his presence and proves his existence to others. For example, in order to understand whether a barabashka lives with you, you need to leave sweets in a rustling wrapper overnight: if he comes to eat them, you can definitely hear him.
As noted, the exacerbation of the activity of reels occurs mainly in the evening and at night. Their appearance is also associated with certain events in a person's life. So, a case was recorded when a baraashka, according to the mistress of the house, saved her apartment from a fire. Because for unknown reasons, when the neighboring apartments burned down and were flooded with water during their extinguishing, this apartment remained safe and sound without the slightest trace of fire.
The landlady of the apartment has long noticed the appearance of a strange tenant: he now and then made itself felt - he would break a plate, then pour out the tea from the cup, then start a coup in the closet. And at that moment, when the fire started, he in every possible way prevented the hostess from sleeping. So it turns out that only he could magically save the home. By the way, after the fire he disappeared, apparently, his "mission" was completed. To believe or not to believe in otherworldly forces is everyone's personal business. On one far from her best day, Olga Kovrova, a Muscovite, experienced a real shock. After the curtains were tied in a knot and a strange "dance" was performed in front of her eyes, the TV flew from the room to the bathroom, all the sockets flashed, she definitely believed in the existence of a bastard. The neighbors, who fled to the hostess's cries, were horrified. It was clear to everyone that to arrange such a pogrom, the efforts of a dozen hefty men were needed, while there was no one in the house that day. But the adventures did not end there either. On the same evening, when Olga Vladimirovna was washing the floor in the kitchen, the iron suddenly caught fire. She gasped: the appliance was not plugged in! She grabbed it with a rag and threw it onto the balcony. And in time: there the iron exploded, forming a huge black spot on the concrete floor. After that, the TV turned off several times began to smoke in the apartment. To top it off, an unknown pest burned the notebooks of the students of the owner of the apartment, which she brought from school for checking.

And she received a conclusion: no psychopathological abnormalities were found in her, although she also observed severe nervous exhaustion and post-stress depressive reactions. Drug treatment is recommended. All this can mean only one thing: something, because of which Kovrova experienced stress, objectively exists. The experts of the Moscow association "Ecology of the Unknown", headed by Alexander Semyonov, came to the same opinion and investigated the bad apartment. According to experts, there is nothing fundamentally new for people studying such a phenomenon as a poltergeist.
A lot of similar facts have been collected, confirmed by the opinion of authoritative experts. The main signs of a poltergeist: the appearance of geometrically regular water spots, inexplicable movement of objects, the disappearance of some and the appearance of other things in the house, explosions of objects, usually disconnected from the mains, the appearance in the walls and windows of regular round holes, spontaneous combustion of wallpaper, the appearance of notes with threats etc.
I must say that in the same 1980s, and even later, there were many similar messages. In those years, the Soviet press was trusted unconditionally. And if something like this was published in some central newspaper, it not only aroused great interest, but also gave rise to new incredible stories. Horror stories about brownies no longer seemed so ridiculous and implausible.
But who is a darling and where does the brownie? As the huge country collapsed and from a complete “ban” an avalanche moved to unlimited freedom, including in the media, primarily television, certified “experts” of the other world began to broadcast from TV screens tirelessly. And the point is not even whether there is another world, mysterious and inexplicable, not how it is able to influence the earthly world familiar to everyone. The point is what influence the home-grown witches and witches, sorcerers and sorceresses (certainly “in the seventh generation”) had on the psyche of the bulk of the population. And the psyche at that time, to put it mildly, was unstable.
On the other hand (as psychologists and psychiatrists suggest), speaking in "abstract" language, consciousness does not tolerate emptiness, and this consciousness is filled with ghosts, because faith is destroyed and habitual foundations are broken, and it is generally not clear what is happening around.
There is also another suggestion. Barabashka (by the way, the term exists only in Russian) is a relative of the brownie. More precisely, he is a "kind" of essence, which, like a brownie, settles where a person lives constantly. Only the brownie is the “master” of the whole house (protects the whole house), and the barabashka is the “master” of one apartment. But, whoever he was, his phenomenon fits well with the theory that any entity is unpredictable. Their actions and actions cannot be put into the framework of human perception, much less logic or their own desires. The invisible world is invisible because it is not given to see it. And if another entity manifests itself, makes it possible to discover itself, then it makes sense to try to determine what could have caused its activity, and to find out if some mysterious void has formed that something or someone is trying to fill. At least in the form of an unpredictable drum.
