A 73-year-old university professor in Hampshire, England, was fired after "racist remarks" about Jews and Germans. The man dropped a couple of phrases about them during a conversation with a physics teacher, a Jewess, who complained to the management.

This story took place at Solent University in Hampshire, England. During a conversation with a Jewish physics teacher Janet Bonar, 73-year-old Professor Stephen Lamonby mentioned Jews and Germans. When Bonar said that she had a degree in physics, the professor noted that the Jewish people have a "special talent" for the subject. He used Einstein as an example and then asked a colleague if she was Jewish. The woman took offense at this, became angry and accused Lamonby of racism.

During the conversation, the professor also mentioned that Jews are "the smartest in the world", the Germans have engineering talent, and the Eskimos are great at fishing … A colleague found his statements offensive and racist. The woman reported him to the management, which made the decision to fire Lamonby. The professor himself claimed that his comments were not racist or offensive, because he used positive stereotypes:

“We have become too sensitive that we cannot ask or say anything. I said that the Germans are good at technology, and the university considered it racism. The Japanese and Americans, in my opinion, are also good engineers … My comments were based on life experience. This is not radical thinking, these are just my views,”the elderly professor commented on the accusations against him.

During the hearing, Dr. Bonar said she was concerned that students were learning from someone with radical racist views. The professor was shocked by the reaction of a colleague, but in the end he apologized for his expressions, saying that he had no intention of offending anyone. Despite this, the teacher was still fired as part of the "fight against racism."

Following the ruling in court, Mr. Lamonby said he would appeal: “Universities are simply obsessed with racism. And freedom of speech is completely dead here,”said the man. Lamonby worked as an assistant lecturer at Solent University for six years, and taught twice a week.
