I'll tell you about one of the most famous places in Russia with megaliths of various levels of processing and sizes - the Vottovaara Mountains, located in Karelia.
This point is quite high (417 meters above sea level), but because of the many megaliths, people still visit the place. But by and large, it is "deserted".
Before talking about megaliths, it is worth noting the most important thing, namely the earthquake, which, according to scientists, occurred in that place about 9,000 years ago. It is because of this that many schisms allegedly formed. But how much of this is already unknown.
And now, to the megaliths of Mount Vottovaara themselves. Of course, there are obvious splits, but no less strange marks, very similar to a saw cut.
Moreover, such cuts were made both in the rocks themselves and in individual megaliths. It is surprising that most of the cuts were made at the same angle, which is doubtful to explain the work of nature.
Scientists believe that in the past, many megaliths were processed and created to worship unknown "gods". True, when exactly this happened and what kind of civilization it was, no one can answer.

What is still difficult to attribute to the work of nature is the small "pools". An unknown civilization carved out whole meters of stones in length and width to form an almost full-fledged "pool" where water accumulated. Moreover, the depth of such places could reach about 5 meters.
In general, there are enough saw marks, rather there are even too many of them. Some of these "cuts" are still a natural split, but it seems to me that this is not even half of what you can see.
There are places in the mountains, as if with blocks stacked on top of each other. The lines of each of the individual blocks are clearly expressed, although some still argue that this is nature. Although these blocks have the same size and regular rectangular shape.
And the last, as experts say, one of the most interesting objects of the mountains is a large staircase that drops off in the air and obviously does not lead anywhere.
Compared to other megaliths, the staircase is roughly processed, as if it was created by civilizations of different levels of development.
The so-called "staircase" consists of 13 rather wide cut steps, which rise and then abruptly break off, followed by a deep cliff.
It can be assumed that this is a place of some kind of ritual purpose, although scientists do not agree with this. At the same time, no one has put forward another version either.
In general, it seems to me that there really was an ancient civilization in the mountains, but everything that relates to it is a staircase, since rough processing is different from all other objects, well, and a few more megaliths, the same rough processing.
But other megaliths, cuts and even walls made of blocks could have remained from a more developed civilization, and the ancient people then simply occupied the complex, making it a place of worship for their "gods", as experts say.
One way or another, it is hardly possible to unravel the secrets of the Vottovaara mountains, since all that remains are megaliths. But the place is amazing and there are few of them in Russia.
