In the second half of the last century, our planet was covered with a real "plague" - acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, AIDS for short. The entire world medicine was powerless against this disease.
Ugly story
Researchers believe that humans got the AIDS virus from monkeys somewhere in West Africa around the mid-1920s and, importantly, under rather intimate circumstances. In other words, if it were not for the lasciviousness of one of the too incontinent human males, there would be no trace of AIDS, in any case, we would never know about it.
The first officially recorded victim of the new disease was a man who died in 1959 in the Congo. And in the 1960-1970s, the epidemic began to generously mow down at-risk groups - prostitutes and homosexuals from the United States and Europe.
Initially, there was no panic - just out of ignorance. Doctors attributed such a high mortality rate to the lifestyle of the victims or a special form of pneumonia.
It wasn't until 1981 that the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention identified AIDS as a completely new, previously unknown and, worst of all, incurable disease. Since most of the patients had a non-standard sexual orientation, it was unofficially called "homosexual cancer."
Another unofficial name for AIDS is the disease of the four "Gs", after the capital letters of the main risk groups: homosexuals, people with hemophilia, Haitians and heroin.

Where did this division come from? Very simple. Doctors have found that the infection is transmitted through blood and semen. Consequently, those who are forced to frequently transfuse themselves (hemophiliacs) and those who share syringes when injecting drugs are automatically at risk. And there is nothing to say about people with promiscuous sex.
Haiti, Haiti
But how did the Haitians get there? The fact is that, according to the generally accepted opinion, AIDS in the USA “came” from Haiti. Whether the expatriates brought him, or the American fans of sex tourism - it's hard to say. But it was not until 2007 that the Haitian diaspora in the United States raised its voice to remove Haitians from the risk group, but they still have not achieved success.
Everything is good in Australia
In 1987, the World Health Organization announced the start of the AIDS program. In the mid-1990s, an antiviral drug was developed, and its subsequent refinement led to the fact that even now we can safely say: AIDS has been defeated.
Australian scientists, for example, report a sharp drop in the death rate among AIDS patients. In Australia, they even stopped monitoring the incidence. Those who have contracted the infection go to the hospital, undergo treatment and recover. The biggest problem, according to doctors, is that people seek help too late. Those who come for treatment at an early stage are no longer in danger of death from AIDS.
