The first International Conference of Flat Earth Proponents was held in the USA. The event took place in North Carolina. It was intended to unite supporters of the idea that the Earth is actually in the form of a disk, not a sphere. A ticket to the conference cost visitors $ 249; about 400 people attended the event.

Earlier this year, American rapper BoB launched a fundraising campaign to buy and launch multiple space satellites to determine what shape the Earth is. The musician has repeatedly questioned the planet's circular shape, using roughly the same evidence as other "flat-earthers" - for example, in a photograph against a sunset, different cities are located about 16 miles from each other, but there is no "bend".

According to Hughes' plan, on a rocket it will rise to the skies over the Mojave Desert in the United States at speeds of up to 800 km / h (like a passenger plane), and at an altitude of about 500 m, the rocket will release two parachutes and land on the ground. Hughes' flight is sponsored by like-minded people - "research" group Research Flat Earth. The construction of the rocket cost $ 20 thousand.
