Death Valley is located in southern California on the border with Nevada, in the United States. It is approximately 95 miles (153 km) in length from north to south and 25 miles (40 km) wide. The impressive rocks reflect the significant age of the Earth's geological cataclysms. The name of the place (apparently due to the death of the gold miners) can conjure up several images, but it also shows a visual impact: rocks, as if painted in red, orange, yellow, gold colors, flutter in white, yellow sand dunes. Humans inhabited this remote region about 9000 years ago when the cold climate created a small lake here. After all, with warming, the lake dried up about 2,000 years ago. The only evidence of this ancient lake today is what could be called a large puddle, which is the lowest point in the United States. Although the region looks inhospitable today, it was known as a mythical place where “stories begin and end” (according to Native American beliefs).
Death Valley shamanic land markings are usually found in remote parts of this already remote place. They had ritual and magical functions, probably left behind by the ancestors of the Pima and Shoshone. They are fragile, so their exact location is not publicized. Indeed, only a few archaeologists have visited them, but only on rare occasions. The markings take many forms - ritual paths, shrines, ground scratches and strange winding lines on the rocks.
Mysterious of all the shamanic shrines in the valley are inscriptions on the ground or stone inscriptions. Such characteristics are collectively known as geoglyphs. They mostly show abstract patterns, but some of them seem to depict mythical creatures. One thought suggests that the stonework lines have helped travelers.

On the other hand, it is known from ethnology that until the 19th century, Indian shamans in the Valley of Death vicked stones to magically create a border, a virtual obstacle, until the shaman spoke an incantation.
It was also noted that the stone boundaries were close to the shore of a former shallow lake, and therefore, perhaps they represent an attempt to stem the increasing aridity.
