Half of all representatives of the stronger sex, who are indigenous to Western Europe, turned out to be the descendants of the same patriarch. Such an interesting conclusion was made by an international group of scientists who analyzed the DNA of several thousand Europeans.
According to experts, we are talking about a very prolific leader of the Bronze Age, who founded a dynasty of aristocrats that later settled in all of Western Europe.
The study involved more than ten thousand men from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The experiment was carried out within the framework of the international project "Thousand Genomes", launched in 2008 and aimed at obtaining the most detailed reference book of human hereditary variability.
Scientists have compared Y-chromosomes in experimental subjects, inherited only through the male line and determining the male sex of the offspring. Experts were surprised to find that about fifty percent of the participants in the experiment have a common male ancestor who lived several tens of thousands of years ago - that is, by and large, they are very distant relatives of each other. Researchers are convinced that such statistics can be safely transferred to the context of the entire Western European population.
Behavior of Bronze Age Men
It is known that in the Bronze Age, namely fifty to sixty thousand years ago, an unprecedented increase in the male population was observed in Western Europe. Experts speculate that it was provoked by the descendants of one of the powerful patriarchs of the era. Presumably, the monarch ordered the aristocracy to get rid of most of the girls born, raising mainly boys, since men were the basis and guarantor of the security of the ancient society. By the way, according to many scientists, such an unnatural selection eventually led to a disproportionately large scale of homosexuality in Western civilization.

It is believed that the significant increase in the Western European population in the Bronze Age was associated with a sharp technological leap. The wheel and many metal tools were created, and the exclusively male elite appropriated these inventions and strictly controlled their production. Eventually, the primitive aristocracy became so powerful that it began to control human reproduction. The leader tried to get as many soldiers, hunters and workers, that is, men, as possible, while a few women were only required to constantly give birth to children and take care of them.
The described patriarch, apparently, represented the organizers of the so-called "new order" in Western Europe. This hierarchically organized society replaced the egalitarian and autonomous communities that existed in the same area during the Stone Age. The invention of the wheel and metalworking technologies gave the elite the resources they needed to subdue the common population and wage successful wars against other tribes.
