The abnormal area, which is located near the small town of Yuryev-Polsky in the Yaroslavl region, is not of particular interest to ufologists. People do not disappear in these places, and temporary leaps are not noticeable. But the local forest is notorious among the locals.
In the summer of 1992, a group of young people decided to go to this region in search of adventure. In the village, the teenagers met with local residents, who told that in this forest they often see a ghost with a noose around his neck. This is an old village story that took place after the Patriotic War. One demobilized soldier got drunk and killed several people, including his girlfriend. Having sober up, the guy went into the forest and hanged himself. The body of the former soldier was found and buried, but since then, in the dark, local residents see a ghost with a noose around his neck. Sometimes he wanders through the forest, and sometimes he hangs from a tree.
Two guys from the company, who were real atheists, decided to walk through the night forest to prove to everyone that there are no ghosts in the forest. The rest stayed in the camp by the fire.
One of the guys, Matvey, later said that in the forest they felt, of unknown origin, a terrible fear. However, they tried not to show it to each other, tried to keep up cheerful and quickly walked forward. Matvey's friend was the first to notice the rope hanging from the tree. The guys were seriously scared, but came to the conclusion that the villagers hung up the rope to make a joke. Nevertheless, the guys decided to go back. But no matter how long they walked, the end of the forest was not visible.
Suddenly, a tree with a rope appeared in front of the friends. It was the same tree, the guys recognized it. Now they were seized by real panic, they no longer walked, but fled. But after a few minutes they were again at this cursed tree. However, this time, a man is oars on the rope!
The friends began to run with all their might. As if on purpose, a strong wind rose and the trees swayed. Stopping from time to time to rest for a few seconds, they heard footsteps behind their backs. When they did manage to get out of the forest, they looked back and saw the silhouette of a man who was quickly running after them. The guys no longer doubted that this was the ghost of a soldier.
The guys ran to the village. They broke into the first house, waking up and scaring the owners. Together with them, the owner's sheepdog ran into the house, which she never allowed herself, and, trembling, hid under the table. By this moment, and it was already deep night, the whole village woke up. The village dogs howled in a terrifying chorus. The horses whinnied wildly and fought in their stables, many managed to escape and run away. Some villagers saw the dark figure of a man from the windows of their houses, but no one dared to leave the house.

In the morning Matvey and his friend told that they saw a ghost in the forest. Surprisingly, they were believed. Local residents said that this had happened several times: a storm, alarmed animals and the ghost of a soldier walking around the village.

In our time, scientists explain the manifestation of anomalous phenomena in such places, tectonic faults, geysers and volcanoes, as well as meteorite craters. But in the forest in the Yaroslavl region, about which we continue the story, there is nothing like this. Accordingly, there are no answers to many questions that are related to local devilry.
Witch's hut
The soldier is not the only inhabitant of this forest. The second ghost was often seen during the day. He is associated with witch glades, of which there are two in the forest. These glades are perfectly round in shape and are completely covered with fly agarics. A man lost in the forest, having got into a clearing, sees on it an old stump, which comes to life, and takes the form of an old woman picking bad mushrooms. This old woman can completely confuse a person, and then he wanders through the forest for several days.
Locals say that a terrible witch lives in a hut deep in the forest, travelers sometimes come across her. It is interesting that during repeated searches for this hut, it is not found in the same place. Rumor has it that in the 60s one man looked into this hut and saw several human corpses there. After that, the police searched for the hut, but the search did not yield any results. And after a while, the hut was seen in another place. People who saw this terrible house experienced fear already upon approaching it.

Getting lost in this forest is much easier than in others. It is one thing when tourists cannot find a way out of the forest, but it is quite another thing when local residents who are well-versed in these parts find themselves in such a situation.

One day I had to go to a neighboring village. That day I decided to go straight through the forest. As soon as I crossed the ravine, behind which there should have been an edge familiar to me from childhood, when I discovered that I was in a completely different place. And the ravine that I passed a minute ago was not there! I got scared. Ahead I saw houses, this was the village I was going to, but it takes another hour and a half to go from the ravine! How did I cover this distance in an instant?
This is definitely not teleportation or anything like that, since there are no abnormal changes in time. It turns out that people, for unknown reasons, simply fall into a state similar to a somnambulistic state and walk like sleepwalkers. People wake up after walking a decent distance.
This version is also confirmed by local residents, who from time to time see people walking with frozen faces. Locals are sure that this is all a witch's trick.
