When the man got to one pipe, then next to it in the ditch he saw something that terrified him. A large ball of wiggling worms.
Red and slimy-looking worms or worm-like creatures were partially in the water and individual worms from time to time detached from the ball and swam further along the ditch.
According to the homeowner, this "nightmarish wormball" from the drain was washed out by a stream of rainwater and previously creepy worms lived somewhere inside.

According to scientists, most likely the videos from North Carolina and from Texas filmed the so-called Tubifex worms. They are thin, threadlike, few-bristled worms that live in stagnant water of rivers and other bodies of water.
Tubes are small in length and are often used as food for aquarium fish. Sewers are not their most familiar habitat, but it is obvious that they find enough food there and have quite suitable conditions.
