The elderly Australian, who decided to go fishing one day, could not even imagine how it would all end for him. Just one sip from a can of beer that fell into the river turned his life into a real nightmare.

Last March, 60-year-old John McDonald was fishing on the Brisbane River in Queensland, Australia when a tin can slipped from his hand and fell into the water. Without thinking, MacDonald picked up the can and continued to drink from it. Just a few hours after that, the man's health sharply deteriorated. Since then, John has had to endure many visits to doctors and a number of operations, but he has not been able to get rid of a massive neoplasm that began to grow in his stomach.

MacDonald was operated on at a local hospital after a course of antibiotics prescribed to him did not have the expected effect. Despite taking medications, the man underwent another operation. For the third surgery, which was to be the last, the retiree was transferred to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Mail Online reported.

However, the operation not only did not have the expected effect, but also worsened the man's condition. When MacDonald came to his senses, he found an even larger hernia on his stomach.

On May 8, 2013, the pensioner underwent another operation, which, he hoped, would be the last. However, the disease still did not recede, after which the man was forced to make an appeal to the world community, asking for help from anyone who could help him in the treatment of a mysterious disease. For a year now, doctors have not been able to help the Australian - despite the treatment, the tumor returns again and again.

“Obviously, the Brisbane River is much more polluted than people think. Now I understand that it was foolish to drink from that can. Now I will have to live with it for the rest of my life,”he said in an interview.

The man said that he decided to tell his story to the world in the hope that someone would be able to answer his prayers and suggest a treatment option.

“I am a good guy and I want to be close to my children and my little granddaughter, so if someone knows how to help me, I would be glad to receive any help,” MacDonald said.
