According to popular belief, urban legends and myths, pagans and Satanists like to gather for mysterious cults in remote places, so that there, behind closed doors, they perform their cruel rituals.

There are an incredible number of such stories, and usually they quite confidently fit into local events and geography, include real cases of missing people or strange murders and look quite reliable.

And yet it is known that there really are places that in one way or another attract the darkest and the strangest. These places penetrate the public consciousness, many or almost everyone know about them, they become a source of legends and stories about incredible incidents.

Damned, enchanted, exuding dark power places attract suspicious personalities, albeit far from the typical appearance, dressed in long robes with hoods of devil worshipers.

In the 1980s, stories were circulated in Massape, New York about one such place - an old frightening house located at 214 Daniel Street.

A whole series of strange incidents led to the fact that this house began to be called nothing less than "House of Satan", "Hell House" or "House of the Devil's Worshipers." The building was impressive in itself.

A large, gothic-looking old building made of red brick with numerous shuttered windows, surrounded by a spacious courtyard overgrown with trees and bushes, fenced off with a powerful iron fence. They said that in the 80s, mysterious cars were constantly seen in the parking lot near the building, and its windows were always closed. No one lived in this building, but mysterious visitors came to it from time to time, dressed in black robes with hoods. Their goals remained unknown.

Given all this, it is not surprising that the most incredible rumors began to spread about what is happening in this building. It was said about the visitors that they were worshipers of Satan, who perform their cruel rituals in it, practice black magic and even sacrifice people.

The house itself was considered to be inhabited by ghosts, and whenever someone passed by, candles were always lit in the upper windows, one for each person in the car. The house has been compared to the Addams Family mansion. It had a large metal gate and red corduroy curtains on the windows. At night one could hear vague conversations and chants coming from the windows. Some of the windows were inscribed with pentagrams.

They say that even the sidewalk near the house was red, but it is not known how true this is, because it hardly complies with city laws. It is not known exactly how many people lived or were in this house. It was claimed that Anton LaVey, America's chief Satanist, had been to the building, lecturing and conducting ceremonies there.

Nevertheless, there was no evidence that anything illegal was happening in the house. The authorities remained indifferent to rumors. The house was later bought by an eccentric family. Members of this family wore black, preferred dark makeup, and looked like a typical "gothic" family. They were aware of all the rumors regarding their property, but they were not at all worried about that.
