An unusual experience: At the Colchester United training ground, a space burger was found on the field.
The frozen meat treat was attached to a polystyrene box and sent into space by Tom Stannyland, better known by his YouTube name Kill'EM, who called the soccer club to explain.
Burger was sent into space using a weather balloon
Stannyland said, “I sent a hamburger into space using a weather balloon. It climbed about 24 miles (38.6 km) and the weather balloon burst. Burger returned over 100 miles (160 km) and landed right here."
Tom Stannyland intended to eat the hamburger when he returned to earth to test its taste. Colchester United FC media manager Matt Hudson said: “When we found the hamburger on the training ground on Wednesday, we didn't know what to think. But they were happy to return Tom his food with the rest of the equipment.
Promotional video:
We've seen a lot of things happen in football over the years, but this event has undoubtedly become one of the most unusual. The incident certainly drew attention to Colchester United."
Mr. Stannyland claimed that he would eat the burger as soon as he returned safely to Earth, wherever he was. He was able to determine his location thanks to a sensor that was installed in the box.
After contacting the club to clarify his whereabouts, Mr. Stannyland went from his home in Sheffield to pick him up.
However, the effects of space travel affected food, and the experimenter admitted that the hamburger was "not very tasty."
