Those who have been practicing lucid dreaming for a long time know perfectly well what it is. Therefore, this post may not be read. I, however, would like to acquaint the others with the opinion of another researcher in this area, Charles Morley, about this altered state of consciousness. Moreover, most people, despite the fairly widespread occurrence of this phenomenon, have a rather vague idea about it.
Here's what you can read about this in his book Lucid Dreaming. How to choose and manage your dreams? :
What I personally liked about this fragment of the book is a fairly sensible explanation of the difference between lucid dreams and out-of-body travel, which is also called the "astral exit." It turns out that the action in a lucid dream takes place in the inner universe of human consciousness, and during out-of-body exits - in the outer universe of the Higher Consciousness. Therefore, in the first case, we can completely control what is happening, and in the second - no longer. For there will be external forces acting there, independent of our consciousness.
When many researchers get stuck at the level of lucid dreams, then they begin to show the erroneous feeling that in everyday life, everything that happens to them and around them is amenable to the control and management of their consciousness. In fact, this is not entirely true. Because a person with an awakened consciousness is really capable of influencing his personal destiny. But our consciousness is a part of the Consciousness of the Universe, and therefore the possibilities of the Universe to influence the events occurring with it, in comparison with the individual consciousness of an individual, are limitless.
Yes, we can either avoid or minimize damage from an adverse event. But the event itself, we are far from always able to prevent. And our influence on the fate of an individual nation will be more modest. I'm not even talking about the fate of humanity as a whole. Therefore, to deny the influence of other intelligent forces independent of our consciousness on our life is at least stupid. Indeed, both in everyday reality and during real out-of-body travel, you are no longer in the worlds of your inner universe, of which you are the creator. That is why only during lucid dreams is everything that happens under the control of your consciousness, and all manifested characters are to some extent your own reflections. But during out-of-body travel, you will already encounter external forces and beings that are independent of you. But of course,to practice such travel, it is necessary after a serious development of the practice of lucid dreaming.
