Only 17% of people who took part in the testing were able to answer them correctly.
Three math questions will help you know a person's IQ. So says MIT professor Shane Frederick. The test was invented back in 2005, but it only appeared on the Web now.
Shane Frederick's experiment involved three thousand people from different fields, with different levels of education. And only 17% of them managed to cope with seemingly simple tasks.
The test included the following questions:
1. Racket and ball cost $ 1.10 together. A racket is 1 dollar more expensive than a ball. How much does the ball cost?
2. Five machines create five things in five minutes. How long does it take for 100 machines to make 100 items?
3. Water lilies grow in the lake. Their number doubles every day. It takes 48 days for the lake to be completely filled with water lilies. How many days will water lilies cover half of the lake?
Most often, participants answered: 10 cents, 100 minutes and 24 days.
