Bath procedures are loved by many Russian and foreign guests. Despite the emergence of new-fashioned spas and Finnish saunas, the bath cannot be replaced by anything. Only in the Russian bath you can get the healing effect that is so necessary at the end of the working week.
Saturday - bath day
As a rule, trips to the bathhouse are carried out on Saturday. At least that is how it was earlier in Russia. There were several reasons for this.
Firstly, Saturday is the first day off after a working week. That is, if during the week the workers washed themselves quickly, then on Saturday this procedure was given almost all day from the very morning.
First, they carried water, prepared firewood, brooms. And then they started to steam. Until the steam came into full force, the babies were launched. Women followed them. And when the bathhouse was already melting at full power, men came in. They steamed their work-stressed bodies and discussed plans for the next week.

After the bath, a laid table was certainly waiting for everyone. Drinking tea from a samovar with bagels and pies was considered almost an obligatory action. And only then it was already possible to go to sleep.
Well, and secondly, Saturday was before Sunday. And the seventh day of the week people gave to the church. They went to the sacrament and to the service. In addition, on the second day after taking bath procedures, both the body and the soul are calm and clean. And that is exactly what those who come to church should be.
Forbidden days
But there were also forbidden days for the bath, when it was strictly forbidden to wash and steam. These days were considered Sunday and Monday.
According to the religious rule, Sunday was considered a day off and it was strictly forbidden to wash that day. Those who dared to work in the bathhouse on such a day faced severe punishment.
And Monday belonged by superstitious concepts to the owner of the bath. His name was Bannik. And in no case should this rule be violated. Otherwise, they risked being scalded or strangled by Bannik.
