Stanislav Smirnov, a senior researcher at the Research Institute of Precision Instruments, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, believes: there is nothing mystical about the incinerating "hellfire".
- The phenomenon is called pyrokinesis, - says Stanislav Nikolaevich. - And humanity has known him for a long time. The first published evidence dates back to the early 18th century. For no apparent reason, a person can burn out in a matter of seconds with a "blue flame", leaving behind a pile of ash. Previously, they sinned on the possessed demons. Then it was assumed that alcoholics were burned, whose bodies were soaked in alcohol. Or, people whose intestines produce too much methane can spontaneously ignite.
Recently, other versions have been proposed, up to hundreds of times acceleration of metabolic and oxidative processes in the body or spontaneous out-of-control of the nuclear fusion reaction, supposedly taking place in living cells. And some claim that electrolysis suddenly begins - the water in the body suddenly decomposes into hydrogen and oxygen, which flare up. Perhaps, but why all this happens, no one can explain.
And the first officially recorded case is dated July 5, 1835. That day, James Hamilton, professor of mathematics at the University of Nashville, felt a sharp pain in his left leg. A second later, the leg burned - the tongue of flame reached 10 centimeters. However, Hamilton managed to extinguish the fire with his bare hands.
In 1996, a naked girl jumped out of a motel room in Brisbane, Australia, screaming wildly. When she came to, she said that she had come here for the weekend with her friend. When a friend came out of the bathroom and lay down next to her, he suddenly caught fire and after a few seconds turned into ash.
In 1974, American Jack Angel, staying at a campsite, went to sleep in his campervan. When he woke up, he was horrified to find that his right arm was completely burnt out. The fire also eaten away significant areas of the skin on the back. Jack's pajamas were unharmed. Forensic doctors ascertained that Jack's hand had been burned from the inside, as evidenced by the preserved skin and ash left by the bone. In 1998, a resident of Madrid, Roberto Gonzalez, while listening to a toast at his own wedding, suddenly flared up and turned to ash in less than a minute. More than a hundred guests witnessed the tragedy. The fire did not touch anyone or anything else.
This happened in our country as well. So, in 1990, in the Volga steppe, the shepherd Bisen Mamaev, who sat down on an armful of hay, was burnt alive. An autopsy showed that the fire was inside the body, and the outer part was only charred. Clothes and hay were left untouched by the fire.
In 1998, in Krasnoyarsk, at the corner of a street, a young man with flowers was waiting for his acquaintance and calmly smoking a cigarette when, in front of dozens of eyewitnesses, he suddenly flared up and burned out in a second. His clothes, bag and even bouquet were not damaged at all.
In general, about a hundred such cases have been recorded over two centuries. The phenomenon, of course, is rare, but very mysterious.

They can pierce a tree that gets in the way without stopping, making a hole in it. About ten years ago, hundreds of people saw fireballs jumping out of the ground in the evening in a vacant lot near Leningradsky Prospekt in Moscow.
Obviously, the balls are generated by some specific tectonic processes, that is, the dynamics of the earth's interior. And they are "brothers" of ball lightning, which most often occur during a thunderstorm. And carrying enormous energy, capable of "cutting" trees and pulling cubic meters of soil out of the ground.
Whatever the nature of the fireball, it ionizes the air. Why he starts to glow in one color or another. Or it can be colorless, that is, invisible from the side. Meeting with such a small bundle of energy threatens burns and partial fires. And if the invisible ball is large, then the person caught in it can burn to the ground. Or evaporate.
Microwave oven effect
- I have not tried it myself and I do not advise anyone to leave chicken in the microwave for a long time, - advises the researcher. - Microwave radiation from the stove will turn it to ash. The stove, however, with its 2 kilowatts of power, will take a long time. The process is much faster in the radiation zone of a powerful radar. Cats that accidentally climb there are charred in a split second.
By the way, during normal microwave cooking, the chicken is on the plate. But even if it is wrapped in a plastic bag or cloth, the result will not radically change. The dielectric in a microwave oven heats up slightly and does not interfere with baking chicken, which has a lot of water. It seems that this is exactly the mechanism of incineration of people. Therefore, the whole clothing of the burned person remains intact, things in his pockets. Furniture and newspapers will not light up, but the metal handle on the door may heat up.

They jumped up and saw: a woman is standing in a ring of the strongest fire and turns into a living burning torch.
Later, Valentina Fyodorovna herself said that she suddenly opened her eyes and saw herself standing in the nursery. Flames were already playing in front of her face. And the feeling was as if a hot fiery stream was erupting from the region of the heart, gradually covering the entire body.
The husband somehow managed to put out the fire. But the entire chest, and especially the left side, was covered with unusual blisters, completely unlike traces of household burns. The hair on the head is singed, but the eyebrows and eyelashes are completely intact. For some reason, a nightgown made of ordinary jersey did not burn out completely and looked like a sieve with huge holes. Moreover, in the place where the unfortunate woman stood, a burnt circle formed on the carpet.
