In the UK, a woman only found out she was pregnant when she was handed her baby in a hospital. It is reported by The Mirror.
In April 2018, teacher Lisa Davey was hospitalized in a semi-conscious state with suspected intestinal infection. The 27-year-old woman was unaware of pregnancy and suffered from nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. On examination, the doctors discovered that her stomach was swollen, but they thought it was due to an infection. However, the ultrasound examination showed that Davey is 26 weeks pregnant.
Doctors diagnosed her with a rare and dangerous complication - HELLP syndrome. The patient's condition deteriorated sharply, her organs began to fail, so the doctors had to urgently perform a cesarean section for her. The operation was successful: the woman and the child were saved.
Davey found out about pregnancy only after she regained consciousness in a hospital room. “I couldn't believe it. I worked 80 hours a week and carried heavy boxes. I had no idea that I was pregnant, there were no symptoms,”she admitted. The teacher named her newborn daughter Daniela after the nurse who took care of her at the hospital.
Now, ten months after giving birth, the mother and baby are doing well.
