Astronomers fear that the star HIP 85605 could seriously affect the placement of objects in the Oort cloud that surrounds the solar system.
It should be clarified that experts have discovered a star flying in the direction of our solar system called HIP 85605. Now this celestial body is located in the constellation Hercules, 16 light years from Earth.
Astronomer Corina Bailer-Jones of the German Max Planck Institute for Astronomy claims that the star HIP 85605 will reach the edge of the solar system in 240 - 470 thousand years. In this case, it will pass at a distance of 0.13 - 0.65 light years from Earth.
Scientists note that the star will not in any way affect the objects of the inner region of the solar system, but it can affect the Oort cloud surrounding the system. So, there is a fear that, having passed along a tangent, the gravitational field of HIP 85605 could push some comets and dwarf planets out of the cloud, and the other part could go towards the solar system, which would entail chaos.
