Recently, robots have increasingly entered our lives. The issues of granting some rights to robots are being discussed in all seriousness; soon the robot will speak before the Parliament of Great Britain, and recently it became known about another very unusual experiment. In one of the colleges in the United States, the robot began to teach. And not exact sciences like mathematics or physics, but a very specific subject - philosophy.
The experiment took place at the US Military Academy at West Point, and the robot teacher is named Bina48. In general, Bina48 is a rather old development, which at various times was called an intelligent robot, a social robot, and even an android. Bina48 stands for Breakthrough Intelligence via Neural Architecture.
But back to the experiment. During a series of lectures, the Bina48 robot, together with one of the university professors, William Barry, gave a lecture on philosophy to an audience of approximately 100 participants.
Before the experiment began, Bina48 was loaded with a huge array of data on war theory, politics, philosophy and a lesson plan compiled by Mr. Barry. At the same time, the robot was prohibited from using materials from the Internet, since Bina48 "can easily cite Wikipedia or the Stanford Encyclopedia." In this case, the researchers wanted the robot to adhere to the curriculum and build a dialogue based only on it.
