Research by Dr. Rupert Sheldrake demonstrates a possible link between modern communication and telepathy.
He conducted an experiment with a group of people who had to guess who was calling. There were four possible answers. "The average score was well above 25%, which could be explained by guesswork," Sheldrake writes in an article published by the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Sheldrake received his Ph. D. in biochemistry from Cambridge, he also studied philosophy and history of science at Harvard.
Similar results were obtained in a repeat study at the University of Amsterdam in Holland and the University of Freiburg in Germany. Statistically significant results have also shown a connection between telepathy and text messaging, or various forms of communication on the Internet, Dr. Sheldrake said.
Telepathic abilities were especially pronounced when people with whom the test subjects have an emotional connection called.
Dr. Sheldrake's research has been criticized because the name of a family member or friend will be in the subject's mind, so the likelihood that both the ringing and the caller's guess will happen at the same time is very high.
“The only way to resolve these issues is to statistically handle the test results,” he says. He notes that such an approach was used in the conducted experiment. "These experiments have yielded positive and, from a statistical point of view, noticeable results."
In the first round of tests, in which 63 people participated, the average accuracy of answers was 40%, which is much higher than the 25% that, according to the theory of probability, could be guessed. After hundreds of tests conducted, Sheljraik said, some participants noted that they were more likely to give the correct answers when they were confident in them, and felt that intuition told them so.
Sheldrake also asked participants in the experiment how confident they were in their answers. He gives the example of a woman who guessed correctly 85% of the time when she was very confident in the answers. When she doubted the answer, her score dropped to 34%, when she randomly chose the answers without using intuition - to 28%.

Pam Smart, Sheldrake's colleague, conducted experiments comparing telepathic communication between loved ones and between strangers. She found that when familiar people called, the percentage of guessing reached 50%, in the case of strangers, it was 25%.
Experiments investigating foresight and other types of supernatural perception have shown negative results, which suggests that everything that has been said relates exclusively to telepathic ability.
