In Russia, the first case of importation of Zika fever has been registered, Rospotrebnadzor reports today, on February 15. Now the sick patient is in the box of the infectious hospital.

A patient contracted the Zika virus while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. When she flew back to Moscow, there were no manifestations of the disease, but after a few days the woman's health worsened, she developed a fever and a rash.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, the patient was "immediately hospitalized with a recommendation for fever testing." According to the results of a laboratory study, the Zika virus was detected in the biological fluids of the patient with a domestic test system.

The entire range of necessary anti-epidemic measures has already been taken at the air port where the woman arrived from the Dominican Republic. Medical observation of contact family members was established, no clinical manifestations of the disease were identified, the results of tests for the Zika virus were negative.

Doctors assess the patient's condition as satisfactory.

Cases of Zika virus infection have been reported in 35 countries of the world: Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Guatemala.
