Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences assure that the fuel can be diluted with water, and such a mixture is much more effective than fuel in its pure form.
This is the conclusion reached by the developers of new energy sources at the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Russian scientists, writes the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, managed to combine water and fuel in such a way that a flammable emulsion was obtained, surpassing the original fuel in all respects, and here's why:
firstly, the consumption of the fuel itself is significantly reduced, and this can already be considered the main achievement of this development;
secondly, the power of the internal combustion engine (DVZ) increases, especially at high speeds;
thirdly, the life of the motor is extended;
and finally, such a combined fuel is more environmentally friendly, both in terms of the release of toxic substances into the environment, and as a result of the scanty consumption of hydrocarbons at the same efficiency.
The whole "trick" in this case lies in the fact that the scientists managed, by adding surfactants to the mixture, to ensure that water, even with a large volume in this emulsion, does not extinguish the flame, but itself participates in the chemical combustion reaction. Moreover, according to the developers, the volume of water in this mixture can be increased to 95 percent.
Experts from the RAS Institute assure that in modern DVZs, fuel is burned extremely inefficiently, most of it is spent on cooling the engine cylinders. In the case of a combustible-water emulsion, the role of a cooler is taken over by water - and this problem goes away, therefore this is another plus of using not gasoline or diesel fuel in internal combustion engines, but emulsion with water.
