Unidentified flying objects have been visiting Kazakhstan for a long time - and there is evidence of that
At one time at the Academy of Sciences of the republic there was even a public commission for the study of anomalous phenomena. Sergei Efimov was the scientific secretary of this organization. In its archives, hundreds of cases of citizens' appeals regarding UFO sightings are carefully preserved and systematized. Now Sergey Efimov is writing a book with the working title "UFO over Kazakhstan".
- A surge of interest in unidentified flying objects in Kazakhstan, and throughout the CIS, happened in the late 80s of the twentieth century, - says Sergey Efimov. - In 1989, a section was created at the House of Scientists, there was a club "Unusual Phenomena in Nature". Just that year, I was investigating an interesting case in Alma-Ata: the inhabitants, as it turned out later, were mistaken for flying saucers … bright stars and planets!
But other events were discussed throughout the Union at that time: a meeting with headless "robots" in Voronezh, sensational details of the Roswell incident and the Petrozavodsk diva, Kharov contact, an Estonian fossil plate, "Height-611" and much more …
Kazakhstan did not lag behind. In 1989, a "cigar" was recorded over Shevchenko (now Aktau), over the northern regions of the republic, people saw strange red balls, the "flight" of Mehrinisa from Sairam, "landing of aliens" near Alma-Ata … In 1990, UFOs were observed in all regions of Kazakhstan, and on some days (April 12, June 22, December 20) more than a dozen messages were received about the same objects. And here are the events of 1991: "Belgian triangle" over the capital, Almaty policemen are chasing a saucer on the night of April 1, the "predicted" UFO visit in the morning of October 17 …
When there were too many messages, a group of enthusiasts was formed who simply went out, looked, tried to record something, and at the end of 1989 decided to organize the “Hypothesis” club. Its creation was initiated by the correspondent of the newspaper "Vechernyaya Alma-Ata" Alexander Volodev, ufologists Leonid Pritsker, German Svechkov and myself.
As a result, at the end of the 90th year, it was decided to create an academic commission on anomalous phenomena at the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Now no one is seriously engaged in this, but the archives have survived. They contain reports of 960 different anomalous phenomena since the 18th century.
PROVE THAT YOU ARE AN ALIEN!
One of the most recent reports about the appearance of an unusual flying object in the sky was information from May 24, 2008 - we also wrote about this in our newspaper. Lyubov Shestakova, an employee of the Institute of Astrophysics, in which Sergey Efimov also works, qualified this phenomenon as a kind of meteorite. Sergei agrees with her, but believes that to investigate such cases it would be good to create a republican commission on anomalous phenomena and meteorites.
- Most often, what people mistake for UFOs turns out to be rocket launches, stars, planets, balls, probes, plasmoids, airplanes and other known objects and phenomena. In addition, there are little-studied natural phenomena. For example, fireballs and recently discovered sprites in the atmosphere, when high-altitude lightning strikes from the clouds upwards instead of downwards. Investigations into reports of UFOs and meteorites have much in common, so it would be rational to conduct them within the framework of one organization.

As for the contactees, I have developed a special cometary test especially for them, that is, an example of verifiable information that they can request from their interlocutors. If they really think that they have a connection with one of the aliens, let these same "comrades" predict the appearance of ten new comets. This is impossible for scientists, but for a powerful civilization that managed to send messengers to another planet, it is real.
GEOGRAPHY OF APPEARANCE OF "PLATES"
According to Sergei Efimov, the largest number of UFO reports is recorded in the eastern part of Kazakhstan.
- There is a simple explanation for that: launches from Baikonur and Plesetsk are better seen there. In the north-east of Kazakhstan, the activities of the military from the training ground in Plesetsk are also clearly visible. The largest number of messages was recorded from Almaty (maybe it is easier for Almaty residents to get through?), Kostanay region is in second place, Karaganda region is in third, then East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Semipalatinsk regions.
WHY DO WE SEE UFOs?
- I must say that unidentified flying objects have always appeared. In the Middle Ages, people saw angels, at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries - airships, new airplanes, devices created by man, - Sergey Efimov answers my question. “And when the space age began, it became fashionable to“see”aliens. Our subconscious attitudes play an important role in perception. Another factor is the activities of our military: they know how to create very effective devices and phenomena, but they don't tell anyone about it. For example, testing new weapons. As you know, there are many polygons in Kazakhstan - Baikonur, Saryshagan.
The third factor is journalists. They greatly influence the mass consciousness and have a great imagination. A striking example of this is the UFO disaster in the Kalahari Desert, about which all the newspapers wrote in the 90th year. But … no documentary evidence was ever found.
- And what, there is no hope to meet aliens?
- Most scientists believe that we are still not alone in the Universe, but we should not rush and take what is not yet clear as proven.
OBVIOUS - INCREDIBLE?
(From the archive of the commission on anomalous phenomena at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
From an airplane over the city of Tselinograd on May 8, 1990. Eyewitness: airplane radio operator.
“Police officers who observed UFOs from the ground asked Tselinograd airport: what kind of flying object in the sky? Flight Director Yevgeny Gretsky transmitted the coordinates of the UFO to the locator service. It was found that there are no civil aviation facilities in the area. Eugene contacted by radio with a plane flying over Tselinograd. The radio operator confirmed: yes, the balloon is hanging. Apparently, he was at a low altitude and the radars did not capture him."
Semipalatinsk test site
September 1993
“The guard, consisting of several soldiers led by an officer, took up a multi-day watch. One day, at about four o'clock in the morning, a UFO glow was seen over the protected object. This phenomenon was repeated on the second night and on the third. In earnest, worried soldiers forced the local authorities to take action.
A group of officers in two cars with radios and equipment drove to the scene. A little later, at the time indicated by the guard, a certain glow really appeared, and then the brightly glowing ball itself appeared. Cameras were immediately turned on. A multiple magnification showed that there was an object in the ball, resembling a bird or an airplane. He was noticed from the second car as well.
