On February 24, 2016, Chinese doctors performed a unique operation to separate five-month-old Siamese twins Yu Che Yuan and Yu Che Xiang, made possible by $ 60,000 in donations collected from around the world.
The boys' 20-year-old parents, Yu Dang and Zhou Li, traveled 1,600 km from Guizhou Province to the Children's Hospital of Fudan University in Shanghai. The operation was planned using 3D printed models. The separation procedure turned out to be the most difficult in the history of the hospital, but it was successful.
