The United States Navy is developing a reporting form for pilots who spot unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Reported by CNN.
It is noted that the new directive will systematize the process of collecting and analyzing unexplained observations.
A spokesman for the Navy said that the military does not talk about contacts with aliens, but in recent years, incidents of unidentified aircraft intruding into US airspace have been reported several times. “For security purposes, the US Navy and Air Force are investigating each of these cases,” the source said.
According to Politico, the reports will replace the term "unidentified flying object" (UFO) with the term "unexplained aerial phenomenon" (UAP). The interlocutor of the edition noted that the new system will allow to analyze the entire available volume of information.
In December 2017, it was reported that the US Department of Defense had spent several tens of millions of dollars on an aerospace threat study program involving UFO sightings. The program ran from 2007 to 2012 and was not advertised by the Pentagon. Within its framework, flying objects were investigated, the actions of which did not fit into the well-known laws of physics.
In January 2016, the CIA declassified hundreds of documents investigating UFO sightings around the world. The documents summarize the agency's investigations into UFOs up to 1978. The bulk of the archival material is devoted to observations made from the late 1940s and in the 1950s.
